- A Glimpse of the Archaic Age

- Tilanus Commodor, creator of The Ancient Age, has released a screenshot that shows off some of the buildings and units of the Archaic age.
Tilanus writes: "You see a Roman-Etruscan town in the first age (which is called 'Archaic Age' in TAA) with Houses, Barrack, Market, Town Center, Temple, male and female Citizens, Etruscan Hoplitai, Voluntarii, a Priest and a Scout. Etruscan Hoplitai are only available in Age I (so called "Archaic Unit Type 2"), while the weaker Voluntarii ("Archaic Unit Type 1") are available in all ages and can also be upgraded."

- Hey everyone, the poll results from our most recent 'second title' poll are now counted.
As you can tell from this detailed Pie chart, there appears to be a Tie between AoE3: The Age of Discovery and AoE3: The Age of Colonization. (with my personal favorite, 'welcome to the gun show' trailing just a bit) There was a total of a THREE vote difference between the winner and the second place title. Lets look at these stats!

- Fan Patch 1.1a Released!

For those of you struggling to use the patch launcher after downloading the new RE patch. A compatibility fan patch has been released by the team at Age Sanctuary.Quoted from Viper: This patch is merely a compatibility update. The balance, bug, and map changes in the patch are exactly the same as those found in TAD Fan Patch 1.1.

Robot Entertainment, the company taking responsibility for the upkeep of Age of Empires Online, has announced it is releasing a whole new set of patches for all three of the Age of Empires III games!
Among some of the changes:Client Fixes
· Boat Particle Effects have been changed. This should result in better performance when using Navies.
· Fixed more out-of-sync bugs.
· Double Deck Exploit has been fixed. This is great news and should breathe new life into TAD, Vanill, and TWC. Kudos to DuolcKrad for the find!
- Age of Empires III Mod Loader Released!

The alpha version of Peugeot407's mod loader has just hit the downloads section.
Now what is a mod loader? you find yourself asking. Why do I care?
Quite simply, the name describes the function: it loads mods. What's important, though, is what the mod loader lets you not do. No more manually inputting files, copying original files, and doing all the repetitive filework that used to characterize mod installations. As you can see in the picture, the mod loader is expected to work with all the major mods, whether it's War of the Triple Alliance, The Ancient Age, or Knights and Barbarians.
So good news community! The foundation has been set for relatively painless mod installation. Expect the latest mods to use the mod loader, and plan on using it to play those mods.

- AoE3 Simple ELO Ladders Announced

Due to the announcement of Elorating.com set to shut down in the next few months, the Japanese AoE3 Community have made up their own new rating ladder site. Their site is still in the development stage, and it may contain some bugs. If you see any bugs, please report them here.
They started collecting the game data on May 4th and are not carrying any data over from Elorating.com, which means that everyone will start from scratch.

- Newtoy Entertainment to release Book-Based Video Game

- Newtoy, one of the four companies to branch off from Ensemble Studios after its termination, has already released one game, Chess with Friends. But that is small talk compared to what has recently been announced by the company.
The new game, World War Robot is based on Ashley Wood's graphic novels, the Popbot Series.
Ashley Wood (a guy by the way for those of you who don't know him) was quoted in sayingI'm excited to team up with game creators who I have admired and, more importantly, whose games I have enjoyed playing over the years! So, it looks to be an interesting game! (More importantly an RTS)

- elorating.com to shut down

- In what seems to have been a slow domino effect that began with ES itself, elorating.com, a prestigious website that keeps track of every player who has ever played online in AoE3, will be closing its doors soon.
As found from Age Sanctuary by James246;Unfortunately I have some bad news for you... elorating will stop operation in the next month or so. The costs are much higher than the income through ads. The last months its getting even worse.
To make some facts: elorating.com eats up about 130 EUR per month. In contrast, the advertising earning has fallen to about 50 USD (about 35 EUR) per month since early last year. Neither plexiq nor me is playing age of empires any more, so we don't see any future for this project. Its not that we expect to get money out of it... but we are not willing to pay such a high bill for something we are not really interested in any more. Sorry. The German site has provided statistical data as well as accurate rankings for tournaments for a number of years, following up the 'cutech' rankings before it.
