THE MAYA

The Maya are the most scientific of Age of Mythology's cultures: they
research technologies the quickest, and techs are slightly cheaper. This
means that they can advance through the Ages quicker than their Greek,
Egyptian, Norse, and Atlantean counterparts.

The Maya are also fond of astronomy, and thusly Mayan players don't
have to worry about black maps; unexplored territory is covered only
in Fog of War. Mayan units, especially the Shamans, also have the most
expansive LOS.

Mayan military units are the fastest in the game and they also put up a
decent (although not remarkable) fight on land. Although the Maya cannot
create cavalry, many of their military units are fairly skilled in countering
such units. However, Mayan ships also tend to have a weaker attack than
those of other cultures. But Mayan ships are also very swift, thus
compensating for their meek fighting skills.

The Mayan hero is the Shaman, who is not only good against Myth Units,
he is also a crucial actor in the Mayan method of gaining favor. To
collect Favor, you must send the Shaman to somewhere near enemy
units, then have him enslave them; that is, have him waving his arms
chanting something until the enemy units change into Slaves. Slaves in the
game are like goats and pigs, except they contain Favor rather than Food.
Next, have the Shaman sacrifice (kill) one of the Slaves. After the sacrificial
ritual has been performed, he with harvest Favor from the Slave's carcass and
carry it back to the Temple, just like a villager gathers food.

Mayan Mortal Units

Peasant
The Mayan villager unit. The Peasant doesn't carry as much as the Citizen,
Gatherer, Laborer, or Villager, but s/he does cut down trees and kill animals
more easily.

Temple and sacrificed by a Shaman.
Created At: Where enemy units have been transformed into Slaves by
the Shaman's magic

he unloads at the Market.

Javelineer
As the Mayans' basic archer unit, the Javelineer can throw spears with

effective soldier of his culture when it comes to fighting foot units, his weakness
is cavalry.
Created At: Tecpan
Good Against: All foot units
Counter With: Cavalry

Although he is the only siege weapon the Maya can create, the Torch Carrier
is perhaps the fastest of the lot, and, unlike most other siege weapons, he can
defend himself when surrounded by cavalry and infantry.

Good Against: Buildings
Counter With: Archers

Fishing Ship

less.

Well... in the matter of Gods, I can't tell you anything right away, seems alright, but the myth units apart from the Chaneque are completely made-up and have nothing to do with the Maya.

Some examples:

-The T-Rex is a prehistoric creature. Just wanted to point that out even more.

-There was no such thing as a were-jaguar.

-The chupacabras was an animal "created" by the mexican governement in 1994, that supposedly sucked the blood out of the goat cattle. The whole sham was made up only so people wouldn't focus so much on the incredible economic crisis the country was passing through. So basically... no.

I admit that it was hard to come up with Mayan MUs, so I took some MUs from neighboring cultures such as the Aztecs (a few of them are based on MUs suggested in the lengthy Aztec Outline you made). The T-Rex is there to fit the "big monster" niche for the Maya, and I felt they would work better than the two-headed Aztec monsters I was originally intending, since they are larger and more menacing, and they fit rather well with the serpent-god theme for Chaac and Kukulcan. Besides, who wouldn't want to send a huge army of ravenous tyrannosaurs to munch on your enemy's populace? MUHAHAHAHAHA...

That would be ok. But i bleive if they were to do this that it should AOM2 NOT another x-pack. Mainly because AOM 2 would be a whole new game and i dont think it would be a good idea making it an x-pack because combining Greeks, Norse, etc.. with Mayans would not be good at all. They are too far away and the campagins would not make sense. However if it was AOM2 and it revolved around Mayans, Aztecs, etc.. only and not with Europe and Asia it would be a good game and a good story could made out of it!.

Uh, just saw this thread, well, the gods seem fine, though I would recommend you to change either Yum Cimil or Cizin because both are pretty similar gods if not the same actually, also Itzamna is not a god of the moon, he's more a creator god, a god of the sky, of wisdom and a civilizer god, in fact he's one of the principal gods of maya mythology so he should be a major god, also Tzultacaj and Chaac Uayab Xoc should be changed because they weren't very important and there are others of greater importance that could replace them.
About the myth units, well no chupacabras, lloronas, thunderbirds and definetly no raptors or t-rexes in maya mythology, the titans are also inadequate.
Another thing, you should probably change the shaman name to something more appropiate like Ahau or even Alach Uinic which was like the maya king.
Well, I hope this helps...

Just saw the post, and I agree about making a new AoM game that had the Mayas, Aztecs, Incas, etc. That would be pretty cool, but definitely not an x-pack because that would make NO SENSE whatsoever!!!

Great post but may I add a few suggestions. As with favor gathering it should be as so, sacrficing any chosen unit of your own at the temple (Except MU's and Shamans) the more valuable the unit the more favor.
As for the titan, Tenochittlan or whatever his name was, was a giant serpent thing.

Long live the almighty Zeus!

Tenochtitlan was a the capital city of the Aztecs, the "giant serpent thing" you refer to is Kukulkan(maya version of Quetzalcoatl) however even though the name means feathered serpent, this god doesn't always appear as this mythical animal, so no all feathered serpent is Kukulkan...

A few people have mentioned that they think this should be a completely different game, and not an x-pack, and I just wanted to say that I agree, however, I think that the two games should somehow be made compatible with each other for multiplayer games on ESO.

Also, I would like to add my dislike of the use of dinosaurs as myth units, as some here have already done.

Well, basically Kukulkan is the maya version of Quetzalcoatl (Central Mexico) So they're pretty much the same, they both are gods of the wind and are related to the feathered serpent, and since this is a Maya civ. then Kukulkan is the correct thing, ok?

Zalp is right. Actually the Myth says Quetzalcoatl, after being tricked into getting drunk and being with a woman, escaped form his city and went to Mayapan (land of the Maya) before sailing towards the East on his snake raft.

Any ideas on what gods could replace Tzultacaj (I like CHX's GP so I think I should keep him, but there's little info I could find on Tzultacaj).

Anyway, while I said earlier that Mayan God Techs were oriented on MUs rather than human units, I've decided to change that and add some extra God Techs, but I'm short on ideas...

I really think you should change those 2 gods: Tzultacaj and Chaac Uayab Xoc, and also either Cizin or Yum Cimil because they're the same god, and Itzamna should be a major god I insist, some options for the new gods could be:
IxChel: Moon and earth goddess, wife of Itzamna, patroness of women labors.
Ek Chuah: God of commerce and also of war.
Xaman Ek: God of the north star and holiness, and protector of traders, merchants and other travelers.
Hurakan: Ancient god of storms, in the Popol Vuh he's mentioned as a creator god floating over the sea.
Votan: The old black god, there's little information about him but it seems that he was kind of important at some period, he is sometimes mentioned as husband of Ixchel and as a god related to warfare, death and drums.
Hunab Ku: A supreme god, there seems to be no depiction of him, he's mentioned as the father of Itzamna.

About Chaac Uayab Xoc power, well I don't know how useful could that be in a scenario with no water or no ships, and again I tell you he wasn't that important as a god, and certainly not for a 4 age god.
And again I tell you about those myth units, I love dinosaurs but they don't fit here at all so please change them, and the same goes to the others I mentioned in the other post, chupacabra, llorona, thunderbird, etc.... change them
