Since naval warfare seems to be more important in AOE3, will it be handled with historical accuracy? Will ships move while attacking, such as circling each other to try to attack the weakest sections? And will weapons be directional? Will ships fire broadships from one side then tack over to the other side to unleash another broadside? It may be a little complicated, but I don't think the standard AOE system of ships stopping and firing in place will cut it in an era were naval dominance was key.

I posted an idea in an earlier thred about this kind of thing. In essence, my idea was there were four different sections of a ship, hitpoints, sails, cannons, and troops. Hitpoints are the same as in AoE and Aok. Sails represent a ship's manouverability, and reducing sail reduces speed and increases turning circle size. Cannons represent a ship's armament, with each side having a battery. Troops represent a ship's ability to resist boarding, with each ship having an inbuilt strength, being built with a certain number of troops, and hiving the ability to garrison extra troops. You would have global settings for precendence, but each ship would also have its own, overriding settings if you wanted.
