In some games, there will be some features like weather effects that often limit the capabilites of units, ie slow them down, make less effective in combat, etc. The screenshots feature snow effects, wind, and desert environments and effects. Do you think that they'll influence combat, (like when it rains, muskets are less effective, and in wild winds, ships are more prone to crash.)
Also, I would love to see how weather effects will often damage buildings, like random earthquakes, mudslides, etc.
Global weather is awesome. Play the EE II demo and find out for yourself.
They don't have that much of an effect in EE II, though. I'd like to see it be more realistic in Aoe III (reduction of range/accuracy, limited line of sight, and so on and so fourth instead of just a speed penalty.)
In EE II, outposts gave you weather reports, too. I'd like to see something like that in AoE III.

Weather efffects will be cool, however I don't see any mudslides or earthquakes happening. And It's too early to have weather reports. But affecting units would be cool.

It leaked...
Kidding, I'm just guessing, I don't see as in I do't think it will be in the game.

That would be bloody great engaging an enemy fleet in a huge storm!
Mud/rockslides would be great as well. Imagine a few rocks rolling down a valley, knocking down trees and other objects as it goes, then finally wiping out a squad of musketeers.
Perhaps on snowy maps, avalanches would be the counterpart to rockslides. If there is a large amount of gunpowder being discharged (from guns and infantry), the sound could cause a huge avalanche.
So many possiblities.....especially with the rag-doll physics.

I think ES don't want random accidents to affect gameplay, that's why it's unlikely. But storms that do nothing, just be out there loud and stormy, would be neat.

First you have to have 15,000 posts. You will recieve a map from HG staff, which will lead you to a witch's house. If you solve her riddle, she will give you a key. It's a key to Elpea's basement. In the basement, you have to defeat Elpea's 3 rottweilers. And there, you will find a secret spell.
Say it backwards three times on midnight during a moonless night, and a Demo will fall from the sky on your head.
The hardest part is pronouncing the spell backwards.
Where be your gibes now? your gambols? your songs? Your flashes of merriment, that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now, to mock your own grinning?

But randomization does play a huge role in Age of Empires I and II as well as in Age of Mythology, as it should. Examples are placement of randomly generated relics, islands, rivers, fjords, cliffs, animals, resource sites, and so on all played a big role.

And I would not, even if such things affected the whole map so it'd be fair to everyone.
What I'd like to see is wind direction, which'd affect ships sailing in a certain direction, and arrows fired in certain directions.
Ships going directly against the wind would go very slowly, and ships going with the wind would go fast. Arrows fired with or into the wind would be more accurate than arrows fired so that the wind hit them from the side.
But I suppose there are too many arcade-lovers out there for that to happen, sadly. However, if there is an "specified object has bearing x to y" in the editor (which I've always missed in the Age of- and Empire Earth editors), both'll be possible in scenarios!
