Those animals.. what are they? They look like a cross bread between a dog and a cow

Also don't those bushes on the cliff look a little unatural?

PS: Besides those 2 things, this shot is just candy for my eyes

I was also wondering about the dow (dog cow) walking around. I'm assuming perhaps it's unfinished art, or just a big dog, but I can see why it may look... odd?

^ what he said.

They've mentioned that there will be over 40 species of animals. And we've already seen cows in other screen shots... there would be no need for "beta" cows.

Well, one of the animals has a bell around the neck (what I don't expect from tapirs) and furthermore I think tapirs are black, maybe with white parts too, but not brown.

Those are definitely not tapirs, they are too big, the body is not like that of a tapir, the color is also wrong, they have bells hanging from their necks, and since those bushes and in general all the units look different from other screenshots, I think it is from an old version of the game.

I think this is an old screen. Look at the horses leg. looks like hes goose-stepping . And they appear to be floating.

Well they look like cows but they stand and have the posture of a dog.

Maybe ES attached dog or wolf animations to the cow model until they make some cow animations...???

sure looks like tapirs, except they are smaller, and most certainly arent yellow..

Also afaik tapirs live in south americas, not in the north, were those trees are growing.

Not to mention those african antilopes on the hill.. all in all a strange mix of fauna and flora.

They don't look like tapirs at all!
And I don't think they are buffalo calves either...
And those "african antelopes" are just deer
Just look at all the units and trees, it's obvious it's a screenshot from an old version of the game, so those are old cows, old horses, old deers... that's it...

Quit the fvcking talk about tapirs, I was making a joke... they're cows. And yes, american tapirs ARE brown, and yes, tapirs ARE found in mesoamerica.

That screenshot reminds me: I wish they'd fix the covered wagons. With all the polygons the other units are pushing, it seems silly to me to have a six-sided cover on the wagon.

The game does have tapirs, but unless they recently redid the art, they don't look like the image in that shot, at least not to me.

And while there are no "African antelopes" in the Americas, we do have antelopes, thank you.

Remember, the covered wagons were made by colonists out of wood and cloth so the cover was stretched over a wooden frame. They had no way of making a round covering so i guess realism wins the graphics battle over this image...

Yes, the bells hint at cows pretty strongly, if you ask me.
