They have said ESO2 will be more robust and will be unlike ESO1.

They said ESO1 was going to be better than the zone before AOM was released.
Thats not what I started this tread for I want to know if other people have abserved these same numbers? If so why do they beleieve more people play an older game vs. it newer one that is supposed to be better?
Who says AoM is better? Things don't get better just because they're newer, it's just as hard to make a great game now as it was years ago.
Edit: Elpea didn't said eso2 was supposed to be better, just more robust.

Well on ESO
AOM-T: I curently see 1769 players searching for a game.
Age of Empires II Conc: I see 3579 players online.
Does everyone else see these numbers as well? If so why does an older game still have so many player vs. AOM?
The reason I'm doing this comparision is because multiplayer interface for AOM sounds like it is going very similar to AoE3 interface. If everyone else is seeing the same numbers as I am then I would think it would be safe to say, there are more people playing AOE2c then AOMt. There has to be a reason for it and I think it has to do with ESO multiplayer interface.
Robust = Esembles way of saying they are trying to fix their failures for multiplayer.
I would like to think that word alone would fix their multiplayer interface but I don't think it is enough.

because many like AOK better then AOM. (and many also prefer AOM, but there are more AOK lovers)

" help organize your clan or chat after a game – all without leaving the multiplayer portal.
Fans of Age of Mythology's Quick Search can still look for games swiftly, while players looking for something specific can browse game lists to find the set of options that matches their tastes."
That came right off AoE3 website. I think this fastest way to improve ESO interface would be to use an interface that worked within a users interenet browser of their choice. The user should be able to minimize/ resize/ move the screen to how ever they want. When the game actually gets started it should run the program.

I feel that this is true, but only to a certain extent. I enjoyed playing AOM, but I eventually stop playing it because of ESO, not because of the game itself.
ESO is set up mainly for 1v1 (whether this was intentional or not), and this is what is preventing its online number to grow, not to mention being able to retain its initial number of players.
Now, I went back and play AoK: TC, and I know for a fact that the reason that I still play it is not mainly because it's fun, but because of how the Zone's design fostered a relaxing online environment where it is so easy to communicate to other players and form team games.
I would bet ANYTHING that if AoK: TC stop using the Zone now and use ESO, its online number would plummet in no time.

Wow cool, so ESO2 is gonna support clans and have ladders too!!!!
the parent has a point. with all of the loyal AoK fans and the less loyal AoM fans going to Ao3, they will need heavy duty servers! and an os a lot more stable than windows xp. can they really trust windows servers? I doubt it. but they will have to because there is no mac/unix/whatever version of havoc.
grr....

the physics is not gonna be calculated on the servers I think, probably just on the clients side like all the other stuff...

I believe there are rated games and non-rated games. If you want competition go rated games, if you just want to have a friendly game play non-rated games. It's that easy IMO. BTW ESO is an online gaming client, ES is the company who made AoM.

"Players will be able to see their home cities offline, even outside the game if they wish" - from the huge video on the other thread.
Oh, and also, I think the best solution here is to go like FPS games and offer both, players can start games with custom programs, the in-game one, and people can even make their own stuff if they wish.

That much bold hurts my eyes.
And I think ES is aware that the Zone, much maligned as it was, is preferred by many to ESO, and presumably are acting accordingly. That, or they're working very hard to mislead us all.
Well, now we will finish talking and go to his funeral dinner. Don't be put out at our eating pancakes- it's a very old custom and there's something nice in that! You don't know it, but you belong here

well xplode, i think the reason for that is, when aom was released not all the aoc fans wanted to buy aom, cos they didnt like the mythological theme and they prefered the historical theme.
