I actially don't know what to buy. I just wrote this to get suggestions. Should I build my own PC or buy from someone? (alienware maybe) Should I get a 7800 GTX or something cheaper?

Solution:

Buy Dimension 8400 from Dell.
Choose the following options:
3.0 Ghz Pentium 4 Proccesor
1 Gigabyte of DDR 3 533 Mhz Memory
XP professional operating system
SELECT THE CHEAPEST GRAPHICS CARD ON THE LIST AND SELECT INTEGRATED AUDIO

This Dell system should be less than $1000.
(if you select no monitor)

Then, buy a GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card for $600
(This is the fastest graphics card in the world right now, and it's well worth the money)

Then, if you really want an ULTRA POWERFUL machine, buy 2 more 512 Mb sticks of memory for under $175 (only 2 slots come filled from Dell)

You will then have a computer with the following:
3.0 Ghz Pentium 4
2 Gigabytes of 533 Mhz memory
GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card

This system will cost under $1750 and will be more than fast enough to play AOE 3 on ultra.

PLEASE DON'T MOVE THIS TOPIC TO ANOTHER FORUM, BECAUSE NOBODY L00KS THERE

MSI NF4 motherboards can't be modded to have SLI capability.

And if you're thinking of getting the MSI K8N SLI motherboard, be aware that you will not be able to fit a 7800GTX in it.

Edit: Nevermind. I did some more reading into it and found out that it's not an issue afterall.

look here
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=57282

anyway the msi nf4 sli mobo only costs $10 more than a dfi ultra-d and when you when it costs $15 to get a sli bridge the msi comes out to be $5 cheaper and also the msi comes with an integrated 24bit Creative Sound Blaster Live, a decent budget sound card

and anyway sli is almost worthless. by the time you get a second card the next gen card is twice as fast, has a lot more features, and costs about the same. Lets say I bought a 6800 gt right around when it was released at $400, i could either buy another one for $350, or sell mine for $250+ and get a 7800 gtx which would perform better and has transparency AA

Do you know how bad MSI's semi-SLI is? The second slot is, IIRC, PCI-E 2x, or 4x at best. It's far less efficient than full SLI. And you can't even use any drivers later than the 70.xx series. The DFI motherboards can be modded to full SLI capability and use the latest drivers.
