Seeing archers take out an iron horse (a train for those not familar with the slang) should be fun.

ES has told us that if you want to invest in archers and not switch to gunpowder, you can do that (through HC upgrades I'm assuming).

Actually, a well trained archer is more "expensive" than a musketeer. Why? It takes a very long time to train someone to be effective with a bow, whereas with a musket it takes much less time and effort. This is why musketeers replaced archers on the battlefield.

Maybe archers will also be useful for hunting.

range unit feared most is speed & proximity? further the better so can spam quiver as much possible, optimum distance like short bow near is good, longbow far is good bla bla; enemy speed low good so they could outrun muskat target reticule lol, if fast then not good muskat. also is muskat like barrel gun? many pellets in one bullet, or no just 1? if many, then splash damage but low damage, if 1 then 1 hit 1 at 1 time but high damage. what about armour? or maybe all is upside down for balance/visual/processor sake huh whatever, tq in advance.

Ofcourse, both the long- and crossbow should be in this game. It was still used in this time. Duo too there accuracy and stability. Which gunpowder both lacked. Atleast the first models

From what i've read about the archers here on this sight, they do have close range melee combat abilities (I THINK), and anyway, archers historically had a faster rate of fire compared to muskets, by the time a musketier has fired once and taken 30 seconds to reload, (speaking from a historical point of veiw, they'll definatley be quicker in-game) the archer he's facing will have already put maybe 5 arrows in his chest, so, in the game the muskets may be able to beat archers in terms of firepower but archers will have greater range and rate of fire.

I really hope archers play a large role in this game, and are not just replaced by muskets.I guess im just a sucker for archers...i can't help it.
