Germans get Uhlans, War Wagons, and Doppelsoldners. And Settler Wagons. That's four unique units of widely differing capabilities. How is that not cool? Plus they have the best shipments in the game and the most access to mercenaries.

OMG that's cool! I was already hoping for a War Wagon, would suit the period. Ottomans used to chain wagons (arabalari) together to form a moving forts. Hussite War Wagons were loaded with either crossbows, arquebuses or most famously cannons, and defeated several knight armies. Where did Sandy say that?
For the Spanish there's also an unit missing on the site, namely the Missionary (back in the saddle again, poor donkey ) Perhaps there are even more UUs that were added later that we don't know about.

Oh wow!
I was secretly hoping that at least one civ would get a tabor of some kind.
Hopefully they deploy to become and behave like a mobile, mini-fort.

... with a kickass amount of firepower
I doubt they must be deployed, they took out the whole formation thing as well. They're probably really well armored light artillery or perhaps they have both a cannon and musket fire. Perhaps you're right and they're really strong, and they're a one-time cart like the Great Bombard.

But if it is catergorised as an artillery unit, it should be able to deploy, as cannons do (they get those 'target' icons floating over them when deployed).
It would make perfect sense to have to deploy them to get their full effectiveness.
War wagons are defensive units, and although they were mobile, would be pretty useless in combat unless you deployed them as a defensive position.

Oh, ok, you're probably right, I thought you meant that there'd be a separate button you must click in order to make it immobile and attack, like AoK Trebuchet (lots of micro). It will probably auto-deploy when ordered to attack, like regular cannon.

Yep I love the Hussites too.
Nassau Halberdiers (sorry - we translate it into English for the English version - I'm sure a Dutch version will spell it differently) are the royal guard halberdiers. Yes they look different from normal halberdiers, but they are just an upgrade. I don't think any other civ gets royal guard halberdiers, so they are probably the best halberds in the game.
So yes, probably Hussites.

read the word "probably" :P
so "probably" some hussite like war wagons with cannons. But that the Germans have War Wagons is as far as ES_Sandyman knows sure.

So, the quote in your header post was by Sandy? Any chance you could give the link?
those quotations were from the weakest civ thread.

Ah yes, thanks a lot great, can't wait! Notice the German UUs are from different parts of the empire: Dopplesoldner from the west generally, War Wagons from the southeast and Uhlans from the east.

I am wondering why Sandy's talking about a Dutch version of the game? Surely we'll get the regular English version here?

War wagons rock!
They cost 150 food / coin, are relativly fast, don't need to be 'packed / unpacked', since they aren't really siege weapons at all. From my experience, they are best against infantry (they take forever to kill buildings), but they don't have any area of effect damage, so they aren't like cannons.
Basicly they are alot like the War wagons in AoK from the Koreans. Only their death animation isn't as cool

Trebuchets auto-unpacked when you ordered them to attack too, you had to click a button to repack them though, it'll probably be the same with cannons

Some of the siege equipment (I think it was mortars (big cannons)) were stationed on a board and had 4 guys holding it. When you wanted to attack, they would put the cannon down and it could fire at anything in range. When you wanted to move on, they would pick the board up again and move around. It took about 5 seconds for the transition from immobile to mobile, but it worked automaticly (unlike the trebs)

That was what I was hoping... we don't need any more micro like with the trebs.
I've seen the Mortars being carried around by 4 guys, those things surely must weigh a ton or so? They should have put them on tiny wheels like AoK siege.

Are the War wagons ingame armed with arquebusiers and crossbowmen?
Plus can you describe a bit how they look in the game? Are they a train of horse drawn carridges, filled with gunners?

Like I've been saying throughout this thread, they're trying to make the entire game require as little unnecessary micromanagament as possible. And the units seem to have a real fast, er... turnover rate. So I highly doubt you have to garrison the War Wagons. They'll probably come with crew inside, likely handgunners.
I wonder if they're classified as Cavalry, Artillery or fit in no existing unit class, so nothing gets a bonus against them. Would make sense, since they're more of a moving, shooting building. I bet cannons eradicate these things.
