The problem is.. ive been reading up on the Dutch and discovered that they dont get Musketeers!
Now, Musketeers have always been the backbone of my military (at least in the demo, and in RON). They are just your general all purpose infantry unit... capable of doing good damage and sustaining decent damage before dieing.
What I want to know is, how do you survive without them hehe?
I just cant wrap my head around the idea of attacking someone with skirmishers as my main infantry unit. Do the dutch get special abilities which make their skirmishers close to musketeers maybe?
Is there anyone with more RTS knowledge out there that can give me an idea of how exactly you effectively fight without your bread and butter unit?
to give you an idea of what I mean.... in a typical army, Ill have 20 or so musketeers, this is the backbone of my force.. I then surround them with some heavy cavalry to rush in and cause havoc.. some light cavalry to prevent flanking.. some skirmishers to help concentrate fire or take out any villagers that pass by.. and some pikemen to take out cavalry. Basicly.. all my other units are there to counter anything that they throw at my musketeers. So, without the Musketeers.. it seems like im stuck with a bunch of counter units, and no powerful unit to lead them.
But, im pretty much a perpetual amateur with RTSs. I suck at them but love to play them. I have no desire to get better at them.. I just like to goof off and have fun. Am I going to have to change my whole style of play and learn to micromanage a huge versatile army to kill anything with the Dutch?
any info or opinions are welcome. Thanks for reading.
