manually scripting the RMS files gives you much more power in terms of shaping the map then you would otherwise have. Plus, learning a tool which generated RMS files would take almost as long as learning to script them yourself. It is of course possible to make a GUI to generate RMS, but there is really no advantage to it.

Question about random map scripting. Are all the objects like forests and lakes told to go to position 57,43 and 57,44 and all that or it based off of a more random system where lakes are told to take up around P land massor so?

yeah, i guess being an Electrical Engineering major with years of programming experience helps, but it deffinitely isn't required that you know any programming languages, it jsut helps you understand the syntax and some of the statements. Bust mostly the RMS script is jsut about making a bunch of fucntion calls to the lower level code in the exe telling it what to do. Other then that all you need to know is if statements and loops.
