Alot of things are left out in the demo. Like Mokon sad.

I'm curious about that updated SM2.0 thingy.
Elpea noticed in KS's review that the final version looked much better with an ATi (2.0) card. But the bloom effect still doens't work I'm affraid, or?

bloom only works whenthe game is set on very high shaders quality. if your card has no SM 3.0 then you can't even access very high shader settings.

yep there are differences. i noticed the finer detail right away. i just downloaded the new demo and i can tell the difference btw it and the old demo. Fraps could tell as well. frame rates stuttered to an unbearable 4 during combat. i had to bump my settings way down from where I was playing demo v1.0 to make v1.1 tolerable. it is painfully clear now that my 9600xt ain't gonna cut it with the full retail and new demo. at least, not at the settings i want out of the game. anyone want to sell a video card?

I have an X800XL, just bought it in June and it cost me $300 bucks. It was the single most expensive part I bought for my new computer. I just installed the new demo and played through the tutorial...yes, the graphics are slightly better, but for some reason my computer performed MUCH worse on highest settings. I noticed immediately that they did something to make the scrolling smoother, but at the same time my frame rates dropped considerably when scrolling over forests! (thus scrolling was no longer smooth) When I attacked the enemy with seige in part 2 of the tutorial I also noticed that the effects are somewhat different, there's a bigger burst of flames on impact. I know I should be happy that I can run the game on highest settings reasonably well, but I'm left wondering exactly which higher setting was included in the new demo to make my frame rate drop so much...

In my experience full games usually are more optimized and run smoother than demos. With AOE3's updated demo however, I'm wondering if this will still stand true. Oh I just played another round of skirmish on the new demo on the Texas map and didn't experience the lag that I did in the tutorial. I'm thinking it's because the map in the tutorial is so heavily forested. It seems trees can really bring down framerate, which makes me wonder how this will effect custom scenarios. Hmmm.

Oh please, the difference really is minimal, if you're satisfied with how the game looks on your system that's all that matters.
