I cant get AOE3 to install. I have the demo installed and it wont uninstall, it just sits at "Validating Install" for hours. I also have the pirated version installed but want to uninstall it obviously because I bought the legit version but it encounters the same problem. Does anyone have ideas???

validating install? Is that some kind of built in security tool to determine if you're installing a legal copy?

Thats what I was wondering. I was thinking because my copy didn't have a 'valid' install to begin with it might not be able to uninstall in proper fashion. However I will try again like Shildpad said and hopefully it works.

wait wait wait.... you have unistalled the pirated version haven't you? you have to or else it will never validate the install because the regestry keys are already there.

Umm... It's not a good idea to talk about pirated files here.

And to get the legitimate version running, you probably need to uninstall the demo the same way you would any other program - through the control panel. If that fails, then you could access it through C/Program Files/Microsoft Games/... and delete the game from there.

Or you could try System Restore, and reset your system settings to an earlie date. (something like 2 months ago). That will get rid of anything you installed over the past two months (or what ever date you set it to) including the demo.

Thanks for the help guys. I finally got it working. I guess impatience is your worst enemy when dealing with computers. All I had to do was wait for the computer to finish 'validating install." Thanks for the help guys.
