The spanish are the weakest civ
that is what ive been hearing anyway.
Their units are bleh.. except the lancer. They have no good seige capabilities or defense against artillary.. their economic bonuses are sub standard and their rushing capabilities are overshadowed by better rushers like the Russians and Ottomans.
I was taking a good hard look at the spanish and their units and abilities..and I had a few thoughts. 1. The spanish units do not fit well with each other. If you go for the infantry.. your card bonuses buff up the pikemen and rodeleros.. two units which are geared towards taking down cavalry, not infantry. So you basicly have a very one dimensional army if you take that route. If you go for cavalry instead.. you get bonuses to Hussar and Lancers.. again.. very one dimensional. Solution: Rodeleros.. historically.. were all around useful soldiers. They made up a large part of the spanish army because of that. Therefore.. I think that the overall attack power of the Rodelero should be increased, and the cavalry damage bonus should be removed(or lessened). This way, they will be slightly less effective against cavalry, but more effective against units and buildings in general. I also think that the spanish cavalry should be geared towards Lancers and Dragoons instead of Lancers and Hussars. Dragoons are a much better compliment to Lancers than the very similar Hussars are. 2. The problem with the spanish economy is not that it is slow starting...it is actually a pretty good starter.. but it is weak in the end game. There is no real benefit to the spanish economy later on. We dont get two factories.. we dont get any unique production bonuses..we dont even get any cards that decrease unit costs. I am not entirely positive.. but didnt the Spanish create the first plantations? I may be wrong there.. but I know that they did use them fairly extensively in middle and south america... which leads to my: Solution: Give the Spanish a card which secerely reduces the wood cost of Plantations, also remove the three cards which give plantation production bonuses, and give them two unique cards which give the same bonuses, and make them available in the 2nd and 3rd age. This way.. the Spanish could make plantations earlier, and boost their production faster, and cheaper. It would make the Spanish one of the few civs without major gold problems in the late game.. which would make them much more desirable from an economic standpoint. I think these two changes would bring the Spanish up to par with the other stronger civs such as the French, Germans, Dutch, etc..etc.. and make them, overall, more fun to play. in case you are wondering...yah..im indecisive. I cant help it
SO I naturally am attracted to the Spanish now. I love the underdog
btw.. some of yall may have read my post a few days ago talking about how leet the dutch are... or the one a couple days ago talking about how im in love with the portuguese.. or the one yesterday where I was talking about how the Russians seem like my kind of civ
