I got the game yesterday and so far played for 3 hours.
However i found it not as good as expected compare with Age of mythology/titan's expansion:
1. graphic/map
I think the Ensemble studios emphasis too much on the 3D charactors of the units. the units, both human units and the buildings are very dim in the game. this is VERY bad cause it takes u ages to find ur labors. most of the time they are hiding in the woods and after 20 miuntes they could gone anywhere.
Another thing is most of the maps are too dark. everything is so dim, everything just mix up together. you will need extra energy to find resources, locate ur labors, find the building u need. all these make ur eyes so tiring that you can hardly concentrate on a battle for more than 30 minutes.
2. the battle design
the battle design of AOE3 reminds me of the rise of the nations. the problem is that all units move so slow that when your villagers are under attack, it is almost impossible to find ur idle military units quickly and move them to protect them. ES make all units marching around like a real soilders in show room. however in real battle you cant expect these gentlemen to fight like this!
3. The queue system.
the good of AOT is you can queue your units by press the queue button so that the units will be created continuously despite limited resources/houses. but in AOE3 we find we back to the time of aoe2. you can not queue units if there are not enough resources/houses. this makes it really difficult to concentrate on strategy not the operation of the buttons!
However i will go on playing, hope i can get used to it!
what are you guys' ideas????
thanks!
