Last night I played a 2V2 online game, and the lag time was terrible.
At some point, it took the units 5 or more seconds before they started to move and perform their new task.
Units just stop moving suddenly, where other units keep moving at a normal paste.
Some units move in slow motion sometimes, and sometimes the whole game just gets frozen for 10 seconds or more.
This is very frustrating for me and for the other players as well.
Players are cursing the game’s lag all the time, and some players even quit in the middle of the game (happened in other games I played).
I just want to make sure that Ensemble understands that this is effecting the game play, and players are not having too much fun because of it.
The second issue I wanted to mention is the low population limit.
Yes, I know I have mentioned it many times before, but last night when I played the 2V2 game online, it really got to a ridiculous point.
You see, half way into the game, The reason I made so “many” artillery pieces is because they are most effective against all units (from range) and buildings, but the artillery pieces took away all the population that I had left. I am sorry, but I cannot play games with only 30 units, I rather go and change the PROTO file, so I can play with more units. So, I just wanted to communicate to Ensemble that these two issues are serious problems that need immediate attention. Here is my system specs: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ [This message has been edited by MosheLevi (edited 11-08-2005 @ 05:19 PM).]
So, where are all my units I ask myself, as I can only see a few around.
It turned out that I had 20 artillery pieces in a few places and 10 Hussars, that’s it.
You see, the 20 artillery take up 100 pop count, the 10 Hussars take 20 more, and my 80 villagers take up the rest.
I have reached my population limit, and I have only 30 units?
Is this crazy or what?
Needles to say that my game play was effected.
After all, how can you play against 2 opponents (my ally lost his home center, and he was hiding behind my walls, leaving me to fight against the two other players) With only 30 units?
Luckily for me, my opponents ran out of resources (a death match) because they had only 20 villagers each, where I had 80 villagers.
So, I kept creating more artillery pieces (whenever I could!!!!), and we finally won the game.
It was a fun game overall, but the lag time, and small number of units that were available to me, was frustrating and spoiled the game for me somewhat.
The only problem is that, I cannot play online anymore, because I changed the PROTO file, and it won’t work online.
Once the initial excitement over the game is going to subside, more and more people are going to notice these issues, and it will effect their opinions.
