Picture the scene, there is an army of longbows and an army of crossbows. The two armies are approaching each other, ready to engage in battle. Now if the longbows are ordered to attack (by right-clicking on an enemy crossbow) then they will approach that unit until they are within range, then they will begin firing. But if the longbows are left standing still then they won't fire when the enemy comes within range - they seem to wait until the crossbows are firing at them before they fight back. This nullifies their range advantage when they are in a defensive situation.
I guess it's hard for me to explain what I mean, so I hope you all understand. Basically the range at which the longbows will intercept an enemy unit is less than their weapon range. If I see an army of crossbows marching towards my longbows, I want my guys to fire at the first possible opportunity. I don't want them to wait until the enemy is within range to fire at my guys.
Any thoughts?
