i'm much more apprehensive when i click the "quick search" button and see a french dude than an otto dude, but that's because as dutch it's much easier to survive a pretty good otto rush than to out-boom a french noob.

I play as Ottomans and I can tell you that one of the worst things that can happen to me is to lose 3+ villis. It takes forever to regain them. I'm not an expert on Germans but the games that I lose to Germans are usually because they used the free Uhlans to raid my villis while my Jans were preocupied. It takes forever for my economy to recover from a raid, especially if I am rushing. Also if you think you are going to be rushed, build a barracks away from your TC so that you can mass a few troops then send them in to save ur TC. Trying to fight 15 Jans with 5 skirms at a time will never work. Hope this helped.

I have a german city that is practicallly level 2 (becasue I'm saving all my cards but 1 to get when I reach level 10) and I have beat 2 level 50 ottomans with it. didn't think it was really that hard.

An otto once tried to boom against my germans, let's just say it failed miserably. Xbows are really awful against AB/Jans, but they'll kill jans on their own. If you have natives that have counters to jans (cherokee, seminoles, aztecs, lakota, tupi, caribs, cree) use them instead of xbows. Raiding otto villies isn't as easy as it sounds, because a good otto player will just tower his villies.
