Being a French player myself, I too have wondered this very same thing. The only thing I can think of is getting the Native American Lore bonus card right from the start in your deck. But that's all I know of.
-The transition from an AOE3 sig to an M2TW sig is not an easy one. -My computer's too old to run M2TW, so I have to subsist on pictures, the manual, and youtube! -MTW and RTW are all I have now

Good question but it has been asked a bunch of times. Don't they also get a native at the start of the game? And also some unique native-esque cards.

they have better native cards.... and of course the native scout which is very valuable to find enemy villagers.

Yeah I guess the Native Scout and bonus cards make sense. I think they should make trading posts and native units cheaper.
