They are so much more expensive to make though. To pitt dopps against halberdiers 1 to 1 you need almost double gold and double houses (wood) (because each halberdier is one pop and dopp is 2 pop)...I don't find this to be very 'equal'...also, for some reason, halberdiers seem to hold up better against muskets...is this true because I haven't checked the stats explicitly.

If halbs are doing better against muskets its probably because people underestimate them and don't try to hit and run. Everyone knows to fear dopplers in close combat so they do hit and run and it really hurts.

I think a lot of points that were made are good, but the fact remains that they are a lot more expensive than the halberdier counterpart. With two pop per doppelsoldner and 125g for one it is much easier to create a regiment of halberdiers then it is of dopplesoldners...this is where I think they lose out against other civs.
