Topic Subject:Why does the map editor always screw the Dutch

Why does it seem every game I play as Dutch, I get 1 gold mine by my TC, another half a map away, and that's hit for my side of the board.
Meanwhile, the enemy is virtually surrounded, with 3 goldmines within TC distance, and 3 more within easy reach?

probably because he can only see 1 gold mine at the beginning to but you just think he could see all three.

it happens sometimes that map is screwes, one team has more gold mines. However dutch are often lucky with gold treasures (beaver owns )

Doesn't it seem like German FFers always have a goldmine touching their TC where it's basically unraidable.

As long as you have wood and food you can survive because of Banks, you get slowed down brutally, but you can still pull off a mediocre start. It's even worse for other civs if they get Gold screwed as they need to wait until Age 3 to get a new gold source.
"I found no one ripe for many of my thoughts; the case of 'Zarathustra' proves that one can speak with the utmost clearness, and yet not be heard by any one." - Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche "The fearless are merely fearless. People who act in spite of their fear are truly brave." Oprichniks are the best units in AoE3. Why? It's elementary, they're Horse-riding Russian Pirates, nothing beats Horse-riding Russian Pirates.

Yeah that's the unsurmountable conclusion on why the Dutch will always be mediocre, the gold handicap.
Villagers harvest huntables .24 faster than they harvest Gold. Because of that, they have the most Cost per Villager. Any decent player can make sure that the Dutch can never overcome this starting loss.

yeah, other day on great lakes took me 1 scouting loop to find my gold mine, all the other mines (5) were on the other side of the map - its hard enough having to collect 2 resources in age1 when your enemy only needs 1. i am sure ES is aware of it tho, and will deal with it when other more important matter than been settled. actually i think the trick to over comming the gather rate disadvantage with is to ship one of your 300 resource shipments (food for faster up - e.g. if your vs. otto) or wood (get a bank soon after you hit age2).

the most fun i ever had (fun meaning losing to map screw) was when i defended against a solid german ff ... you know what he did ... and finally managed to get a head and have a recovering econ
then notice that there were 6-7 gold mines on his side (pampas) and i had all of 2 and both had run out
