On ESO2, just before starting at a game, there is a green bar just under the player's name, which sometimes changes colour.

What is this for?

This represents their ping. The greener, the better. The more yellow or red, the worse.

It's their latency to the server (connection quality). The more yellow-orange-red it is the more likely they are to lag horribly.

I've also noticed when you go check your homecity or somebody elses your ping gets worse. But when you return to the gamelobby screen your lag turns green again...

You like it?

Common don't kick a guy if it's red... I mean I get a serge of bad ping every few minutes but it doesn't even lag ingame so if you see Ossian come in your room kick and I'll stalk you

Is it just me or does anyone else think the ping bar is inaccurate?

Because, eg someone had a red ping and i played with them, and game was fine, no lag.

Someone had a full green ping, game was shithole, probably 2 frames a minute

that's because it doesnt account for packet loss. which, as any first person shooter veteran will tell you, is just as important as latency.
