It has made its way into mainstream english because of historical uses, I guess.

Fix bayonets!

American: Coor-du-boyz or Coo-reur-du-boyz
Correct English: Coor-wer-du-bwa

I take French in school, so I pronounce it correctly naturally.

By the way, it means "heart of the woods(forest)".

Quoted from Attias:

By the way, it means "heart of the woods(forest)".

Sorry but im from Montreal so its my first language and coureur des bois dont mean "heart of the woods" its not even a name. It mean "wood runner" or "a dude who walk into forest/run into forest".

coureur = runner

des = of

bois = forest/woods

Coureur des bois means "Runner of Wood."

Coor-oor-day-bwah is how it is pronounced

End of discussion.

P.S. I am right. Don't question this.

I think its pronounced coureur des bois.

This is a forged signature.

[k][u][r][ə:][r]---[d][ə]---[b][w][a:]

Its phonetical alphabet. Onmy this way you can wright how something is spoken because an 'o' may be a difrent sound then for a french.

And it means 'wood runner' like a woodchopper. they were people that fetched wood in the 'New World'.

A little historie now and then doesn't hurt

Edit: --- means a space
