Despite the inappropriate level of hero worship that this guy seems to elicit. Some of you are failing to understand what makes him a good player. Alot of the things that he does aren't very flashy. Even his micro seems mundane at times, but he always seems to manage things well enough to come out ahead in every little skirmish.
He plays smart, and nearly mistake free alot of the time. That is what is really impressive, the consistently high level of play that he achieves for hours each day. I am amazed at the number of games he gets in compared to the rest of us.
I have been fortunate to play against (and lose) to both. Playing StarSky was like getting caught up in a tornado or something. The play was frantic and fast, and over in 10 minutes. In constrast have a recorded game of me vs IamGrunt where it actually looks like we are playing even. But each minute that passes finds me falling slightly behind until he is far enough ahead to end it.
All of us have a personal playstyle regardless of our skill level. Some playstyles aren't all that impressive, but consistently yield good results. Others are exciting to play and watch, but don't do nearly as well.
Respect to the top competetive players who do all the right things to win. but also respect to the players who play for fun and not just to win. It takes both types of players make this game more than just a parade of people all playing the same OP civs with the same OP strats.
Happy Pie Day everybody.
