If I understand correctly, which may not be the case, these units are classified as artillary, and are paricually resistant to ranged damage, meaning dragoons are "meh" against them despite a 2x multiplier. Mamelukes are hard to get and you only get 5, so you can't really rely on them. Which seems to lead me to the only real option being Hussars, which imo are relativly speaking overpriced and not really that spectacular. 120F 80G? cummon. Are Hussars the only real option with Ports or have I missed someone?

Are you guys sure they are classified as infantry? In the scen editor they are under the "AR" section, for artillery.

Grenadiers seem to go down well to cassadors if you hit/run/hit/run but not Abus's, they have too much range. Even streletes which are also light inf go down ok if you micro and don't waste shots. Out of ideas for Abus though, seems unreasonable to me that 5 hussars cost 1000 resources and so do 5 mamelukes!

Grenadiers are classified as heavy infantry, so the 2x multiplier cancels out the 50% resistance. Counter them with light infantry, and research counter infantry rifling. For abus guns, use hussars or dragoons.
