The only problem you will have on this forum are all the abbreviations, ;-).
Ottomans are a pretty easy civilization to master, and I think Ensemble Studios put them as the hardest because of their unique style of play; they don't train Settlers!
You've pobably noticed, that at the begginning of an Ottoman game, your economy is like trying to roll a massive rock uphill, but I promise, by later game if you manage your things right, it will be rolling down a huge steep hill soon enough.
This harsh stage of the game is explainable, because since Ottomans get Settlers for free, they have to have a negative side! As you build a Mosque, you can research improvements that speed up Settler train-time. Eventually, you won't know what to do with them all!
Don't worry about getting all 100 of those Settlers, make sure to get your gold from the start, you can create one of the strongest military line-ups in the game. They have a unit you can make from the Artillery Foundry which replaces the Grenadier, called the Abus Gun, which is a wonderful and powerful unit for its cost.
All around, the Ottomans are definatly good later game, if you boom or turtle, you will be almost unstoppable - that is, if you survive. If you are faced against say a German or Spanish civilization, they will most likely be sending attacks to kill your hunters, farmers, lumberjacks, and miners, which will obviously destroy you.
Theres my rant, hope you found help somewhere in there,
Ben
