Those Brit players were whining for something because they felt it put them at a disadvantage.
Back then it was ONLY the auto-attack range that made longbows sub-par. In fact, they were as good then as they are now, except for that 4 range. Of course with Yeomen, I don't know if the auto-attack range was increased or not, but perhaps that was another reason to fix them.
IMO Brits were simply booming too long, they still boom too long. Plus, cavalry was rarely used, it was mostly HI+falc wars back then, or LI massing.
TGE had a good point in that one thread: put a few muskets in front of the longbows and you have a real good chance of owning everything on the field.
In the third thread it was actually from the trial era, when longbows were too powerful.
Ceres even said himself hussars have a hard time killing longbows:
Quote:
I would like to see 15 hussars beat 30 longbowmen with no casualties!!!!
Even lancers with their 3X bonus against the archers can get killed very quickly by a pack of archers. The each round of fire will kill at least one hussar until they engage in melee, which means at least 3 hussars dead before melee combat starts. If we assume we are playing a human opponent and not the brainless AI, I guarantee you even if the hussars win, there won't be many left, if any.
