As many of you already know (over 1,900 downloads from Heaven and GameReplays combined), I have created a Quick Reference Guide for Age of Empires III that is in depth and gains its strength from a strong community backing. While I organized it and tested many features, many items were ideas taken from the forums. In addition, many errors were corrected from the community providing feed back.
In that regards, I am asking for help. Before I post the corrections for the 1.08 guide and the changes from 1.09, I want to create a list of starting resources for each map. I think it would be very useful in generating strategies if you know what resources will be available on certain maps. That way, you can make custom map dependent decks. For example, resource heavy maps such as Carolina can focus more on military versus resource shipments and the time required to age to Colonial can be calculated. Here is the information I have currently collected (from an “Ask Sandy” thread). These values represent the base number of starting crates (100 resources per crate) for each civilization. You will always start with at least this many resources regardless of the map.
Civilization Coin Food Wood Villagers
British 0 2 2 6
Dutch 3 0 1 7
French 0 3 1 5
German 0 2 1 3
Ottoman 0 0 4 6
Portuguese 0 2 1 7
Russian 0 5 1 5
Spanish 0 2 1 6
Aztec 0 2 2 ?
Iroquois 0 2 2 ?
Sioux 0 2 1 ?
Every map adds random crates in addition to the base supply above. The addition is the same for every civilization. Thus, if a map adds +2 food and +1 coin crate, every player receives 2 food and +1 coin crates in addition to the base supply. Here is where I need help, I want to determine what randomization is possible on each and every map and fill in the table below:
Map Coin Food Wood
Amazonia
Bayou
Carolina
Caribbean
Great Lakes
Great Plains
Hispaniola
New England
Pampas
Patagonia
Rockies
Saguenay
Sonora
Texas
Unknown
Yucatan
Yukon
It is not as easy as it looks and I just do not have the time to do this by myself. For example, Amazonia can start off with +2 food +1 coin, +1 food only, etc. Carolina gives a bunch of everything, but where are the limits of the randomization?
Thanks in advance and I will post the newest revision as soon as this is completed.
EDIT: Sorry about they tables, not sure how to make them on this forum.
