Hmmm....
that's very funny cause look what happens

I go to this link: http://aoe.cuetech.de/ranking/playersearch.jsf?name=urafricanbrother&playersearch:searchButton=search
and I get my 1v1 rating as 2045 and my overall rating as 2095.

I go to this link:
http://www.elorating.com/portal/portal/default/Players/AOE3PlayerPortletWindow?searchString=urafricanbrother&action=2
and I get my 1v1 rating as 2133 and my overall as 2154.

Why do they not say the same thing? Which link should I be using?

The second one is the new one and I think everyone will be using it now. They're both made by the same people and I think they'll get rid of the first one soon.

They don't say the same thing because they changed the way the system works somehow. Most people seem to have gone up about 100 points. The main difference is that the new one doesn't show inactive players in the rankings.

The elorating.com is the new version of cuetech (with re-calculated ratings). Old version will be taken offline within the next few days.

Hey plexiq, could you explain why the ratings chaged or is that top-secret information?

Its just using a little dif forumula. From what I gather the new formula pushes ppl towards the top a little more but keeps the top around the same place. Its still an ELO but the factors are changed a little bit from what I gather.

    @poita:
    Nah, its not top secret at all. I ll be putting up a help page soon, where the algorithm is described in detail.

    For now, i ll just quote from the AgeSanct-Thread.

    Quote:

    Alright, i give a very short description of the algorithm:

    Its a more "conventional" approach this time. Testing suggested that the actual problem with "noob bashing" is, that some of the new players are drastically overrated when they join the ladder. So, the idea is to get them to their approximate rating asap, without impacting the "established" players a lot.

    The core algorithm is still the same:

    K=32 //zone compatible k
    S=250 //zone compatible scaling

    p = 1 / (1+10^(Rate_loser-Rate_winner)/S) //expected winning-chance for winner
    K_multiplier = 1.0 //see later

    RatingChange_winner = K_*K_multiplier*(1-p)
    RatingChange_loser = -K*K_multiplier*(1-p)

    About the K_multiplier. This is determined for every player, and this means that the points won by one side are not always equal to the points lost on the other.

    For every player, it gets determined by the following algo:

    1) For high rated players, we use lower K-factors.
    myrating>2100 -> K_multiplier=0.5
    myrating>2350 -> K_multiplier=0.25

    2) ELSE, If this player is new, use higher K-factors.
    mynumbergames<12 -> K_multiplier=4.0
    mynumbergames<24 -> K_multiplier=1.5

    3) ELSE, If this player already has an "established" rating, and opponent is new, use lower K-factor for the established player.
    opponentgames<24 -> K_multiplier = 0.5;

    4) If none of the above matches, use
    default -> K_multiplier=1.0

    We can see that a new player will drastically win/lose points within his first games, while having a very low impact on the rating of established players. However, once a player reaches a rating>2100 his adaption speed is slowed down to normal in any case.

    Hm I thought there was a system to factor in HC level and the comparative popularity of the civs used, so that if a german wins a ottoman he's going to get much more points than if he used, say, russians. Is that removed now?

    HC levels and civs were never factored in cuetech, only in power rating.

    The new cuetech seems to have deleted 6 games from my record. (It says 125, i have 131)

    I hope they were losses.

    For some reason it doesn't count one of my games (my record is W24, L12; ELO says W23, L12). All my games were played during the past two weeks.
