A lot of people think we're living in holes. They try to pour dirt in those holes. But they don't realize... they're really taking dirt from their own holes and pouring it on our mountain.

Does anyone know why it got 4(5 in graphics?

not a very good review IMO because it didnt explain the ratings.

It's a rubbish review. It speaks positive about it the whole way through but only gets 3/5 for story etc.. without any explanation:

But warchiefs are powerful fighting units that add a bonus to nearby armies. The Iroquois do extra damage,

This is also incorrect.

But Native Americans can all too easily "zerg rush" naval maps, quickly fielding lots of cheap attackers to overwhelm their opponents. Who needs a Spanish Armada when you'd do just as well with a dozen cheap canoes?

It takes a lot of canoes to take down just 1 frigate, or any other warship for that matter, if there were several ships of each side, the europeans would win the naval battle easily. I liked the new naval additions.

Yeah i agree with the grapics thing, there is almost no other game that has this good PC graphics, and warchiefs are like explorers and i think aren't really that powerful. Three musketeers can take down a warchief, 5 musketeers take down a dragoon sometimes, that's wierd

Warchiefs seem a lot stronger, but I haven't checked really.

Warchiefs DO provide bonus to nearby units, I'm not sure which bonuses though.

I know they do, but the Iroq one provides extra HP not attack.

Can a dragoon take take down buildings by itself, blow apart unit formations or make cavalry the fastest units in the game?

My point being that there is more to a unit, especially Warchiefs than just what you put on in the editor.

What a crappy review. I could have written that and I haven't played the game. Oh well, guess I'll hold out for the IGN review, they're usually good.

Too much description; not enough analysis.

I agree the only actual comments about (not a description of it) the game I saw are:

Quote:

Pros: The new sides are unique; Lots of changes and tweaks to the basic gameplay

Quote:

Cons: Will likely hurt some of the careful balance in the original game

Doeas any expansion not hurt balance?

And then it said if you liked AoE3 You will like TWC (which was likely if the game was even just playable).

IGN gave it a 8.2/10
It looked like a pretty good review as far as content goes.

Nice, in line with their AoE3 review I think. Although I think its pathetic to have a rating for story.

Pretty hard to beat the expansion for Age of Kings though, that was the best expansion for the age series.

I'm not getting much out of the reviews and hands-ons thus far. The Gamespy "out of the box" article argues how frustrating it is to grab a portian of your villagers with your military. ES should really make the military drag option default for idiots like these.

why the hell is x-packs has worst honest rated sound ratings??

the ign reviewer complains that he has problems with his ears and gave only 7.5/10

the yahoo! gave 5/5 with absolutely no reason

Gamespot still hasn't reviewed it yet, though it's getting a good wrap up from other sites.

IGN - 8.2/10
Gamepro - 4.3/5
Games Radar - 8/10
GameZone - 9.5/10
1UP - 9/10
