Dutch can still only get eight banks? There is a new bank wagon card but I used it and I was still allowed only eight...

Yeah, I figured they would only get 8 max, which is fine with me.

My question is: If I already have 4 banks up, and DO NOT send any "+ bank" cards/techs, can I still use the bank wagon as a fifth bank?

Since when can Dutch get 8 banks, Please explain how you can get 8 banks with cards. I only thought you could get 6. Never really payed attention to how many banks myopponet has as I am pilliging his town!

One the Capital imperial upgrades adds +2 banks as well.

Nope I think it is 10 since:
-4 originaly
-2 from cards
-2 from the unique church tech
-2 from advancing to imperial.

It's always eight, but they can be worth11 fully upgraded with tulip speculation, excessive taxation and all the cards.

Then how come they said you get an extra 2 in imperial age? We already have 8 in the game now and with TWC, they get + 2 with imperial age.

Apparently something changed though. Lol, they decided to nerf dutch's Imperial, though 1400 resources isn't much at that point.

Not just the resources and time buidling them, but if you have more than 4 banks (though I would rather have those 13+ Ruyters or other units), this is an overall nerf of the tech. If you have max banks you get half the effect of anybody else.

I don't see the point in nerfing the very late game Dutch eco, though this will probably never come into play.

Don't you see!? The Dutch or OP! ES is very level headed and in my opinion nerfing cheap market and the third age ruyters card makes all the sense in the world!

Honestly, kudos for boosting them a bit in the expansion, but I'm expecting a nasty suprise like "Ruyter hp nerf." or "15 build limit on Colonial skirms."

10 banks AND they increased their gather rate? And another bank tech boost? Wow that's gonna be good for imperial artillery spamming.

And the 10 banks gathering the same as they would without the upgrade, while the enemy has his settlers gathering gold faster from the tech and more troops.

The 10 banks hurts the Dutch. A 50% boost (everything other than banks)>25% boost (banks)

Is the +2 Bank Build limit from Taxation new to TWC? I don't remember that from before.

It used to be the standard +50% gather rate, so they changed it.

well obviously a lot of players here play no rush...

If you make it far enough in a no rules game to have all 10 banks, well, your opponent must either be dutch too, or simply isn't attacking you!

Though i do think that getting a bank wagon in early game is major because you dont have to spend villie time or 700 resources.. when i read that caption about not increasing build limit, i think i said what everyone did:

"Oh sweet, another card in my deck taken up by banks"

But you get +5 cards now, so that shouldn't be too big a deal.

But Taxation now adds 2 to the bank limit instead of increasing thier gather rate by (slightly more than) 50%?? What's the reasoning behind this? Now Dutch have to spend extra resources, and still don't get nearly the boost they did before. Although Dutch imperial age was great, they had a hard time getting there (unless your deck is full of econ cards, but that makes you extra vulnerable to a rush) now its less benefital when you do get there.

i started playing dutch a bit 2 weeks ago and now they nerf em. this is fuking unfair. they should have kept it +50% and add 1 bank limit too, coz it will be in imp . and dutch eco will lag behind in imp

I think they nerfed it because the bank gather rate was slightly increased.

i agree that dutch eco is strong early and mid game but why they nerf late game dutch eco :S

oh come one eight banks is more than sufficient. i my self use only one +bank card and all banks available and normally hae more coin than i can even spend


In the warchiefs however i think that with saloon they are more needed but still....

As for dutch they can beat in colonial and fortress but cause they are a counter civ in late game musket flood with hc and dragoons and hussars can beat most of their power....
Portuguese beat dutch easy in industrial but the problem is to get there

Someone do the math, there are too many variables to calculate. New gather rate, more banks etc.. Are they actually nerfed when all is said and done?

Well, just considering bank amount and the capitol ET tech:
before: 8 banks cap +50% effectiveness= same as 12 regular banks
after: 10 banks cap +25% effectiveness= same as 12.5 regular banks

Add in the fact that the gather rate has increased, and overall 10 banks will give more than 8, but you'll need to spend at least 1200(2 times 298x2) to get those 2 banks extra.

It will be good for long games, short ones will be a little bit better with new gather rate but otherwise not much, as it normally doesn't get to 5th age anyway and the ET tech is available only then.


If you see your teammate is not good enough, tell him to attack first and give him a chairshot in the back of the head when he's not looking.
