I have noticed that there are now trickle cards included in the game, providing 1.5 of the given resource per second, and the cards can be send in age 1. I think this is actually very powerfull, i myself like the food trickle card for dutch a lot. i do not know the exact gathering rates for villagers, but is this really as powerful as it seems???

i think the gather rate for 1 villager on hunts is 0.87 food per second but i am not sure, so its basically 2 villagers but not quite as good... but that depends because its basically 2 unraidable villagers but i don;t realy think the cards are worht it unless they can be sent multiple times...

I may have the reason...
TREATY GAMES. Seriously if you send it early in the game it can become quite good, but still I agree with poita.

They would be useful if you expect to spend a lot fo time with you rvillies holed up in your TC, but I believe that is about it.

erm 1.5 resources is less then 2 villagers on hunts... in age 2 you can send 3 villagers, its plain to see that this is not worth it:S

It is about the effective rate of two villigers on hunts. But its main use is playing defensive. If you send 3 villies and they are stuck in the TC, which is better?

Also they aren't all food cards. The wood one is the equal of 3 unupgraded woodchoppers. That's pretty sweet if you're Russia and don't even have a 3 villager card to take in Age 1.
