Topic Subject:Is ES addressing the cheats in the new patch?

I realize that ES claims they are addressing cheaters. They have at least some methods of detecting drop tricking and freeze hacking. The problem is the map hacking, which is very hard to detect to date.
ES said that they have some new hidden tricks added to 1.03 that will likely catch the cheaters. The cheaters of course claim that ES is full of crap and their methods are still undetectable unless the game is recorded.
Do you think ES really has a trick up their sleeve for this patch? Or, do you think they are just bluffing in hopes of scaring away cheaters? (not working according to their website forum)

Record your games. Accuse people like iamgrunt of being cheaters because they don't record games :P
Thanks to all those that signed the petition to get me unbanned here. And special thanks to smashnbash for making it.

I'm referring to new programming additions to the game that can track/stop cheating. Accusing people of cheating is worthless IMO, and I think it makes the community worse. In order to be really effective, whatever they do to discourage cheating must be built into the game. Sure, moderators or in game police can have an effect, but moderators can never catch everyone.
So, do you think ES has made any programming additions to address cheating?

I dont know 100% because I haven't done it, but it happens exactly(jk) like this:
You can see you opponents units thru the fog of war, but u cant see the ground/terrain per se. So the ground and mini map is still black but the opponent's units still show up. I think mines/hunts/trees/treasures show up too but I am not sure. I know what I know based on what I heard some1 who had a map hack say.
There are probably different hacks that are slightly different, but I'm prety sure they all show your opp's units. As far as I know, none of them give the other guy(s)a map screw.
You see EVERYTHING, every single bit of the minimap, everysingle unit. EVERYTHING.
I sure as hell hope they have fixed it.

I read the cheater's forum the other day, and they claim that the map hack still works in 1.03. I hope ES has embedded some line of code that secretly tracks who uses the map hack and in a few weeks we'll see a mass banning. I've seen it happen in the few online games that I previously played, and it's always amusing and benefitial to the game community. I really hope this happens.

You can hope but there's been a map hack for every version of Age and ES has never done anything about any of them.

Blocking map hacks is pointless, they just work arround it. You can make it hard the first time, but i think it always will be possible to make a map hack.
Then the only thing that is truly effective is in a patch add a detection program, and then after a while banning everyone who is caught. If you immediatly start banning then it also doesnt work.

Maphacks have been a part of Age of... since the beginning. Unfortunately, now you cannot record half of the games, and the ones you can only show your movements and not the opponents. Worst ever situation in this regard.
The new "hacks" came out 2 hours after ES patches - not happy!
There is one good thing out of this. I only recorded my games to see if I can spot any cheaters, but since that is pointless, I do not bother, and I save myself that extra 20 seconds at the beginning of the game by not giving a sh it.
