At a number of occations it has happened to me that I enter a game thinking I'm playing a noob, and therefore maybe not be doing my best, or not taking the opposition seriously :-)
It happened the other night that I wanted to test out the Dutch again after not having played em in ages. (After Enders post regarding them beeing OP compared to Ottos)
So, I created a NR 10 game, since I never play NR usually, my PR is far lower in NR then in SP, and I soon had a Corporal in the game lobby, and he just clicked green right away, and so did I since I wanted to noob bash :-)
So, the game started and I was playing real bad IMO, not thinking the opposition would have a clue on what to do and so on...
Needless to say I got my ass wopped :-)
After the game I felt really bad, thinking I couldn't even beat a corporal! -So today I was checking ELO, and to my surprise the guy was as high as 2375.2 in vanilla at one point!
Hehehehe, why do I fall for this!
This was not even the first time, only that the last time I faced an Ottoman in QS, one who had just transitioned to TWC.
I just ran over him in the start, playing as Russia using the Strelet strangle.
In the end he asked me how an Ottoman should play to beat Russia. - Only later I saw he had 2162.2 at one point in vanilla, and he is close to 2000 in TWC now...
How is it for you guys?
Do you also find yourselfs fooled by PR at times, or do you always play your best eventhough you THINK you are playing a noob?
