After losing a few games lately I went into the post game stats and saw one of the opponents receive a huge spike in gold during the game. In both cases it was an instant $100K gain. I know one of them was playing the French but I can't remember the other Civ. Is there any way of doing this other than the cards that allow you to swap one resource for another at a 1.25x gain? Given the level of play and the total resource line at the time it happened (roughly 35mins into a 40min treaty game both times)it just looked way out of proportion. I'm fairly new to the game so please let me know if I'm missing something obvious. Thanks.

The Fur Trade card might be possible but the thing that made it look strange was that the coin total went from somewhere in the 40K range gathered to $140K and never went up after that. I suppose they just stopped gathering coin. I seriously doubt someone tributed that much to them since nobody had over $50K at the time. I'll have to check out the food total when the card is played next time to see if the numbers add up. It just seemed very strange and definitely changed the complexion of the game where that person grossly out gathered everyone else in both cases when I looked at the end game totals for resources. Thanks for the reply.

whenever i play with a french teammate in NR, i always send him my food too to get fur traded and have hime give me back gold with the "white meat" that comes from the card bonus. perhaps if you were playing a 2v2, 3v, or even 4v4 all your opponents tributed their food to the frenchy for furtrade, thats why he had so much, and then he tributed the gold and interest back after the card.
