I considered posting this in Strategy Central, but the IC is hardly a serious strategy. This thread is about the strategy almost exclusive to Russia in which the Colonial Age is researched right at the beginning of the game, before any villagers or other economic facilities are created. The idea is to generate an incredibly surprising strike against an enemy who has not or only just advanced.
For obvious reasons, this is not a mainstream strategy. Almost all of the time, the initial strike is repelled with little loss and the user’s economy is wrecked. However, the strategy has some viability against Portugal, and above all it is hilarious to perform.
So my question is, have you ever performed this “strategy”? If so, why? Did you fancy a game with a difference? Did you happen to know the opponent loved to age up late? Did you accidentally hit the button and didn’t notice until it was too late? Post with your experiences!

Giskard: BrianManahan = Tsar_Ivan_VII. It's no longer a question.
Giskard: Isn't BrianManahan liable to be banned anyway for being the smurf of a banned forumer (Tsar_Ivan_VII)?
BrianManahan: I'm not sure who that is, Giskard, but I see what you is trying to do. I don't smurf >:O
