I sometimes see units stand in a square around like artillery, but I have never been able to do that. I can get a group of like pikemen and get them to walk in a square, but never with another unit inside of the square. Also, I once saw a heap of Operniks bundled very tightly with 1 tatar loyalist. It looked like the size of one unit, but the were maybe 30 operniks there. They came and seiged my factories instantly almost, is that a glitch in the game?

Do you have Advanced Formations turned on?
And the Oprichniks are probably a glitch or unintentional consequence of the game's pathing.

actually thats not a glitch, they use the cavalry archer as the unit the opris protect, so if you get 49 opris and one cav archer, and put them all in defense, the opris will make a very, very small square around the archer, the reason they use the archer is its fast, and it doesn slow down the opris.

That is pretty cool, I've gotta try that. Imagine the other guys face when he realises that it's not 1 unit but 40...
Especially since Oprichniks are so good at running in and murdering poor defenseless Villagers.
