Hi all! I'm new to these forums and thought it would be fun to create a thread that allows me to see peoples thoughts on their favourite civilizations!
If you see this thread post your favourite civilization and tell me why. I'd also like to know which civilization you think is the strongest (Yes, I know...I'm going to see Japanese here about 300 times).
Me first:
Strongest Civilization: French
Why: The French villagers make them formidable at rushing in Colonial, especially when using Hussars. Once they hit Fortress they become pretty much invincible with slightly above-average skirmishers and Cuirrassiers. Finally, in the Industrial Age they become even more rigged by balancing off their ridiculous economy (30 villagers is enough with two factories) with insta-build Cuirrassiers and above-average artillery. Few teams have realistic counters to their cavalry, making them formidable opponents.
Favourite Civilization: Chinese
Why: The Chinese have an abundance of strategies available to them and allow for a nice amount of customization. They can rush with inexpensive troops in Colonial and already have access to villager-killing cavalry. Flamethrowers are amazing (although I don't use them much until Fortress) if you have ten or more of them, and in Industrial Age the Chinese really start to feel the might of their military. Most people don't realize that the Chinese have the most powerful light-infantry in the game (except forest prowlers with a full fire) if you use the right cards and Keshiks are the best light cavalry in the game for killing heavy cavalry (based on population not resource cost). Finally they aren't overly dependant on their wonders and have an impressive consulate (factory + fort + trickles FTW!).
Before people question my claim of Chinese having the best light infantry in the game, consider that Chu Ko Nu do triple damage followed by double damage followed by triple again and so on at long range. This gives them a grand total of 37.5 ranged damage (on average) times 3 to heavy inf AND light cavalry.
That's it for me. What are yours?
