Soon it will be 2010, Robot Entertainment has still not mentioned anything (for 6 months at LEAST).
How is the gaming world of AOE3 while I have been gone in the land of burning tyres? Is eso still functional?

if u see aoe 3 is basically the end of so called 'age of empires,(era of empires ancient medivieal and modern)after
this the nation system started and empire system ended so i
think aoe 4 wont make much sense.i think people should make more aoe 3 funpatches and make it an epic of age series.

AoM was the one before AoE3 was released and AoM was released at:

US October 30, 2002
EU November 11, 2002

3 years... so we can wait for a while

For most companies it takes 2 years to develop a new game and one year for expansion.

Ensemble Studious followed that trend too, releasing:
AOE2 - 1999
AOK Xpack - 2000
AOM – 2002
AOM Titans Xpack – 2003
AOE3 – 2005
AOE3: TWC - 2006

But then the trend was broken when Ensemble started to work on “Halo Wars” instead of the next Age game.

Robot Entertainment was formed at the beginning of 2009 so it is safe to assume it will take them around 2 years to finish the game they are working on.

So if we are lucky they will release their new game just before the holidays in 2010.
But there is a good chance their game will be released sometime in 2011.

The only question is: Are they working on the next Age game or something new?

Guys. Stop complaining, get yourself an Xbox 360, Halo Wars and be happy. It's awesome.

Seriously though... I think MosheLevi is right, I think they'll release their new game Q4 2010 - 2011...

Play my scenarios! You won't believe how much fun they are!

Maybe they should grab a whole country like SC did and go from there?

It's like risk
Get south america and australia while asia and europe ect. are still being fought over by the other players, you end up with + a few $ a turn and eventually the $$$ prevail

What ever they do, it's just a game!
Risk is a fun game, but it's still a game, with a different play...

Well, unfortunately there just isn't as much money in PC RTS games anymore, which is sad since their quality is often great. I mean, what Dev wants to pour tons and tons of money (almost solely to pay employees for 2 years) into a game like the possible AoE4, just to make a modest profit. For one, it will never outsell the FPSs, RPGs, and the behemoth known as World of Warcraft. Additionally, in that same time frame they could produce more token RPSs that virtually always sell well and don't tend to need/get patches as often.

The closest match to AoE3 in quality and style that will be around in the next few years is the Total War series...and judging by Empire Total War, they aren't even trying to make long term fun games anymore. The Age series had something other games do not: the ability to play online 1v1 matches that are always unique, always challenging, always beneficial to your learning of the game, always dependent on your ability to play the game, and always thriving thanks to heavy modding and scenario design ability. I don't know of another game series that meets all of those standards.

I'd really like it if AoEIV got a lot of TLC in the custom scenario department and showed off the types of game that can be made up.

In AoC that's all I did. I was kinda crap at normal RTS in AoC but playing Bloods in Custom Scenario room 2 at the Zone are my fondest memories of Age of Empires. I remember people would grade your skill on 1v1 Germs Blood fights. I'm confused by the editor right now, but I just barely started. I really hope to make a Blood and have fun like I used to.

QWW123,

Is Ensemble studios shut down?

Long story, yes, but what is left of them is called "Robot Entertainment". Go back and read all the postings under this heading, you'll learn a little bit, then ask your questions.

AoE should stop now....
Or they remake the previous'ones or go to a new title.... They shouldn't continue on the timeline.. i think it would suck...

Just give me a AoM2 and i'll be happy
