Hi guys just did a treaty game and played against some sioux guy. And when the treaty was over more than 50 dog soldiers came in a box formation in my base and they RAPED EVERYTHING. HOW DID THEY GET SO MUCH DOGSOLDIERS?

Putting halbs by your buildings if he only has melle cav works half decent aswell. In fact, goons behind halbs is a good stopping force, but unless your opponent is a noob then he will have a counter for dog solider counters.
Fortunately, like spahis, if you can manage to kill the first 40-50 then it takes awhile for him to get more. It's not like currasiers that will come at you in endless waves and smash you even if you are trying to counter.

Surprisingly artillery is very good vs dog and oprichnik boxes. Since these boxes are packed tightly together splash damage will be extremely powerful. If you have 2-4 li'l bombards (400 damage with no penalties vs cav) guarding your factories/wonders etc, you sometimes can kill the entire box in a single volley.

As he said it only takes a couple of volleys. Put like 40 musks in front of your cannons and they should have no problem getting off 3-4 shots.
Dogs aren't op if you aren't playing treaty. If you are playing treaty, then FU Gendarmes or Spahis can match them pretty easily.

Yeah but you can't mass them as well in non-treaty games. Usually only 10-15 at a time, which goons can handle pretty easily. Goons will do much better against dog soldiers than spahis or curries. Goons>Gendarmes is such a broken counter, they get slaughtered, but dog soldiers don't have any cav multipliers or area effect so they fall to LC pretty easily
(relatively anyways)

First of all, you don't need to let the dogs into your base, and second of all, you don't need to wait until they come up to you.
If you use only dragoons to kill them, you have to pick them off one by one while they wipe out your buildings. If you've got 5-6 rockets or li'l bombards, you can blast into the dense box and kill most of them off in a matter of seconds. 4 bombards do 1600 damage in one volley (with splash) which is more than enough to kill dog soldiers. Any stragglers can be taken out by your dragoons.

I agree, if someone is only using dog soliders then (ironically) artillery works half decent against them. Cavalry are best at taking out artillery from the side or back, but if you don't have a distraction or meat shield then they have to charge head on (which is a mess)

You're still missing my point: the goal is not to chase down the cav with the bombards, but to mass several of them near a high priority location (eco buildings, factories etc) to be able to splash-kill the box in a single volley when they close in. If all 5 fire at once the box won't have time to "run away" before getting blown apart. It's basically the same way rodeleros wouldn't be able to "run away" before getting killed by artillery, despite their fast speed. You just need to use more powerful cannons to kill dog soldiers in that way.
