Ashigaru Musketeer x3.5 vs. Cavalry x2.0 vs. Light Infantry
Yabusame Resists50% vs. Ranged x3.5 vs. Melee Cavalry x2.5 vs. Coyote Runner x8.0 vs. Artillery
Flaming Arrow x3.0 vs. Infantry x2.0 vs. Building x5.0 vs. Ship
and all other units like Samurai too much bonus damage, hit points and attack
all Daimyo can train military units in the field, giving the Japanese army the advantage of boosting its numbers in the middle of a fight.
So how i counter any type of japanese units effectively
Which civilization I use?

From what I can remember (long time since I played TAD), Japan was totally broken and a major reason why I play Vanilla!
Are you playing FP? Does that even still exist? I think they nerfed Japan in that.
Mudkips did 9/11 - The way I see it is, I'm playing this game for the fun of it, not to prove that I have a fiery E-wang of doom.

to elaborate a france cuirser spam is not a good idea as samurai eat them for breakfest. India is defantly out so fan out some don't stay in one area try to control the water fight it out like a gueralli style of tactics. raid, raid, raid force him to split his troops up always use the counter of his main troops if you need to retreat do so hit his walls with high power siege monitors, petards and dash in to hit off some vills No matter what don't put in a gamble that requires all your eggs in one basket so to speak. Galleons work well on water maps as mobile troop training and look for shoguns and dynamo over all playing as japan might be your best bet

I am assuming people don't join "NO OP" games at your PR level?
The problem with Japan is its average economy (a shrine boom can only get you so far; they will always fail against a well executed boom by France or Russia) and slow unit train times.
Basically this means that they struggle with unit spam. I recommend russia to counter.

How to counter Japan you ask? Haha well first off Japan is definitely an Over Powered civ (OP). I mean their base units are basically over powered European units, the Japan base unit ashigaru for example is the same as the European musket but an over powered n slightly more costly unit. They have a good boom not to mention Japan like all Asian civs are able to deal with 4 resources not just 3, export can buy great improvements and more OP units. Also the worse and I mean worse thing about Japan that makes them ridiculously OP is the daimyo and shogun. With the ability to spawn it's own army at will wherever it is... you may as well resign if it gets to your villagers...
With that said Japan is not impossible to beat. Their weakness is their shrines because they depend so much on them, for resources and population. Also they lack fire power; by that I mean useful artillery. Their flaming arrows are flaming weak and can be easily countered, and their want-a-be motars are pathetic excuses for siege units. Their samari are their artillery as far as siege goes but I digress, if u find yourself up against an experienced Japan player I wish you the best of luck and may he have mercy on you're villagers.
