I have an ATI Radeon 9520 series 128 MB graphics card.

Problem: no vater reflections.

Is there a connection with the capabilities of the card? If so, is there any other solution than installing another one?

Since when is there a X1300XT? There is only a Vanilla and Pro last time I checked ...

And as usual, I'd never reccomend an ATI card for AoE3, they just aren't optimized properly for the game. Nvidia is always your best bet.

the x1300 512mb ~ XT!
It isnt opted for aoe3, but certainly the x1300 x1600 cards do kick ass, and Nvidia doesnt really have any fresh ideas in that segment.

Hello, I was wondering if my computer would still have lag with high settings (preferable highest of course) with a 6600 GT.
Here are simple specs
Gigabyte GA-7VAX (I believe) mb (overclocked SB to 200MHz)
Athlon 3200+
512mb Windbond PC3200
128mb Geforce 4 MX4000 AGP

I've played the game on low-mid settings and not had a problem except a slight lag when buildings explode. This is with 8 players (I don't do online).

I have a Tt Bigwater kit that keeps my CPU under 30C. I might get a VGA block if I can figure out how to overclock video cards.

Here are the current settings with only slight lag
1024x768, 32 bit depth, 75 refresh
vsync-on, no anti-alias, shader low, shadow quality on
tracer, footprints, water reflection, bloom, high poly, terain detail all on
particle quality - normal, and the three texture quality settings are on High.

You wont get highest settings and no lag with a 6600gt, my system is very similar to yours, and with a 6600gt and all settings on medium or above i rarely get any lag offline, i havent had a chance to play online yet.

This month I have mostly been playing Dishonored 2

Also, the only PCI card I know of (yes, a PCI card that works with AOE3.) is the Geforce 6200. (And yes, they do have a PCI version of the 6200.) It's actually a good card and runs AOE3 well on slightly higher than low settings. I've got it running high polys, high textures, 1280x1024 resolution, and some other stuff and it's running with only a bit of lag. I have to set it on low shader quality and stuff though. Stupid dells, not even an AGP port......

What's up guys? I just checked out that benchmarks page ( http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/hardware/grafikkarten/2005/test_asus_extreme_n780 0gt_dual/10/#abschnitt_age_of_empires_3) and I had a few questions.

I will be getting a laptop with, what they call, a "256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7800". Is there a way of being able to tell which card it is on the benchmarks page(GT, GTX, etc.)?

Also, I have a desktop computer which I thought was pretty good, but when I played AOE3 it lagged so bad I had to just put the game away. I assume it is the video card since it is a bottom of the barrel Intel Accelerator 900 (I don't actually think it's a video card at all). Now that I'm getting a laptop I want to be sure this doesn't happen again. The laptop I will be purchasing has 512 MB DDR2 memory with 667 mhz. The processor is an Intel DuoProcessor T2300 which has 1.66 Ghz and 667 mhz fsb. Let me know if you need more info. Will this be adequate to play AoE3? I always thought these real time war games were much less stressful on computers than a game like counterstrike. I played RON without lag on my desktop but I want to get back into A0E3. Any help is appreciated.

And to jonodel who asked if a 900 would work with this game, like I said I have one and it was pretty bad. If there were ships on the screen the game would come just short of locking up. My PC has 3 GHZ Pentium 4 CPU with 800 Mhz FSB and 512 MB Ram.

Is it better to get:
1024MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 7950 GX2L

or

Dual 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 7900 GT - SLI Enabled

And any other card suggestions are appreciated

For the Most Cost-effective buy, go single NVidia 7950 GT. 1024MB

For A more expensive (by 100 dollars) I would get SLI 7950's.

(512 MB each)

For the world of technology on, shortly after, and before

Have fun!!

Is it good for this game- Yes, it's fine.
Can you play like that- You couldn't run the game with very high graphics settings. Those models can be bought quite cheap but will run the game with mid-high settings depending on size of map and players. If you have the money go for a newer radeon model. If not just buy that X1600. It's up to you.

Be perfectly honest after playing the game near 8 months straight every day. Upgrading my pc 2 times already with 4 different high end graphics. I can honestly say the video card would nearly not matter. The game mapping was either a complete brain fart my its makers or years ahead of technology. I was running AMD barton core 3200 with 256mb Geforce 4 then went to ATI 9550 256mb and both ran nearly the same. The upgrade I done last night went to a 4600+ duel core with a Geforce 4 PCI express card 256mb shared mem. Seems to be even worse with twice the acceleration through the card and the cpu. Shutting off the bloom effect seems to do wonders on the shut down glitch and turning down the shadow effect to medium as well. I do not believe there is a system that can run the full graphic acceleration of this game. If there is let me know I have nothing better to do with my money or at least bill gates thinks so as to chase hardware around in hopes it will make his game work correctly.

I just got AoE 3 but it seems that my graphics card is not compatible. The card is a few years old, a 128 MB GeForceFX 5200. Is it possible to run the game without buying a new card. I'm not looking a super high quality picture, just something that works.

kevin167- Quite a slow card I'm afraid, at least for today’s standards. If you're not looking for amazing graphics even a very cheap new card will be much better. If you can't buy a new card try upgrading the drivers from the nvidia website.

Hi All!

Am interested in upgrading my graphics card for under $170, and was hoping to gather your opinions. AOE3 is working fine right now with most settings on high, but I'd like to play with max settings, or atleast get some bigger bang for the buck as far as my graphics card. I also do video editing.
.
Current System:
Dimension 9100 Dual Core, 2.8GHz, 1GB Ram, Power=375
Graphics> ATI Radeon X600 HyperMemory 256MB, PCI-E
3DMARK06 Score of 371 which is stinky I think, ;o)

I've come across the following cards so far, and am leaning towards the X800 XL. Ideas or comments? Anyone using a card below $170 and playing off-line at max?
> ATI Radeon X800 XL (256MB)
> ATI Radeon X800 PRO or XT (512MB)
> GeForce 6800 GS or GT
> GeForce 7600 thru 7900 GT

I've seen ATI All-in-Wonder X800 XL. That's different than normal X800 XL, right? Preferences?

Do I need something that is DirectX 10 capable?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Update: after further research, I think I found the perfect fit for me.....the XFX 7900 GS will work with my power supply and can be had for $145 with rebate! woo-hoo!

Hi people, im kinda new but im hoping someone can help me out.

Iv got a ase700-ep920m
925 intel pentium D processor
1gb ddr2 ram
intel(r)GMA 3000 (256mb , onboard, pci-e)

that video card runs the game like crap, even on low settings its pretty laggy/choppy. My best guess is cuz its an onboard card.

What i want to find out is what would be the best pci-e card to go with while trying not to go too far over 200 dollars.

Also i found a few cards and want to know why a
XFX GeForce 7900 GS would be more expensive than a HIS Radeon X1650 Pro when the radeon has more vid memory. And are any of these worth a buy?

edit: also what do u guys think of the ATI X1650Pro?

OK...You can set your onboard in the BIOS to be dedicated instead of shared. I bought an excellent 512mb video card for under 200 $$$. It is GDDR3 and everything. Very fast clocking...can't beat it. Make sure you shop at www.newegg.comfor your computer parts. They are the most reliable, cheapest, and fastest. They have an excellent reputation, so you should try them. Look up your video cards...you can get a decent one for around 70 bucks. Not bad for a 256 mb : )
And dont worry...the 256 mb is more than enough if it is dedicated.

If you have any questions, just PM me.

If anyone wants a good card that's on a budget, I would recommend the GALAXY GeForce 9500series card to play AOE3. You can get it for less than $100 and the manufacturer claims that it's the best card you can get for the price range. I can play AOE3 beautifully at 1680x1050 resolution at full settings and with 2GB of RAM--VERY LITTLE lag at all. When I play online though, I will usually turn off reflections and bump down the shadows to high, for the extra tweak of performance, but I have no problem at all with this card. Trust me, it's a good buy for this game (I can't say much about other games because I don't play any other game), but this card works beautifully with AOE3--and I am very picky about lag (probably more so than the average person), so if it'll be good for me, I'm sure it would be good for you =).
