Just wondering, because some 3D gams' scenario editors are a bit slow to use. For example, Railroad Tycoon and C&C Generals. I would like to know what all I'm paying my $45 for.

Let me just be the first in this thread to say C&C General's editor is the WORST EDITOR IN THE WORLD - It doesn't have a mini-map for God sake...

Anyway, the editor is fairly simple, you click place object button and a dropdown list of objects you can put down come up, that kind of interface - however more complex things like cinematics or events are controlled by triggers, which require you to understand what they are to use them.

It's a good editor, but the best way to learn is to play about with it first until you get to grips with it. Know what all the buttons do.

Oh, and you're not paying for the editor :P It isn't supported.

uh i disagree about generals being the worst. I have seen much worse.

As a matter of fact for the first months i didnt even know Generals had a trigger system...when i disocvered tistrigger system i saw just how advanced it is.

I mean come on..you could do SLOW MO in it...surely that makes up for lack of minimap.

Not to mention you could render sky...pitch the camera, rotate the camera, etc etc.

There are games with editors that dont even come close to CNC. As a matter of fact i consider it second, only behind Empire Earth and Empires DmtW editors (my favourite to use do to ease and functionality of use)

It's a good editor, pretty powerful, pretty easy to learn and use, and fairly bug-free. Biggest problem is it's not supported by ES. But you're lucky since there is a pretty good design community to fall back on for information.

But for the entertainment value, it's worth $50. You've got an SP campaign, SP RM play, on-line MP, the editor, and eventually custom scenarios and campaigns that people will release. Should give a few months of entertainment at least. So yeah, if you like the Age games, it's worth it.

I didn't even know it had triggers...

How can you produce a decent map without having a mini-map for referance? It would irk me no end. (Unless you're using a 3d editor, but that's different.)
