I made a plug-in a while ago that allows Photoshop to open and save DDT files directly. With the plug-in, you no longer need AoE3Ed to convert DDT files. Also, you have an interface to specify the settings of the file rather than manually coding the bracket with non-understandable numbers after the name of the DDT file after converting from TGA with AoE3Ed. Furthermore, this plug-in generates better MIP maps than both AoE3Ed and the original game. This will result in better texture rendering (especially for high resolution ones) in-game. Here's how the save dialog looks:
The plug-in works with Photoshop CS3 or later, for both x86 and x64 versions. It's originally made for NE only, but apart from the mod itself, we decided to share something which may also be helpful to the other modders.

Besides the plug-in, I've been working with Daniel to break the hardcode limitations of Age of Empires III, we've achieved to have more than 14 AIs in game, and revolutionary banners for user-created revolutions. Keep track of our project here:
Feedbacks and suggestions are welcome, so I'll be able to improve the plug-in if needed.
