I know that in a perfect world you wouldn't have to use pertards because they aren't cost effective, 5 to blow up a tc (or 4 and like 300 hp left) a 600 wood building costing you 500w and 250f in pertard.
But until you get mortars pertards can be fun for a short time in fortress.
I was interested in some strategies or tactics that use pertards, if anyone has please share.
I have 2 variations of the same tactic that I use every so often but only when my team is winning (1v1 i dont think it would work).
here it goes, works with france and germany.
upon hitting fortress start massing and upgrading cav.
make a foundry and pop out 5 pertards.
once you have about 15 cuirs or 25-30 ulhans (and 5 pertards) try to sneak into your enemies base, scout his possible hunts and wood choppers to make him ring the bell. Undoubtedly his army will be at an fb or at least more than 7-10 seconds away which is all you need. Until now keep the pertards just out of sight, then when the bell rings charge them to the tc and blow it up.
Cuirs work great because of the splash damage , so many villies in a small area. Ulhans clean up too.
Usually you can kill 20-30 villagers doing this essentially putting one of your enemies out of the game for awhile.(most people ive succesfully done this to just resign right away)
Kind of the European version of the sioux seige dance/axe raider tc charge.
Works great on water maps too because you can load up all your cav and pertards on a boat and drop them off beside his base for extra stealth.
Its kind of an expensive risk but even if it doesnt go perfectly you will still do decent damage, you dont need TOO much cav for it to work.
and keep some inf for defense too but that goes without saying.
Another use ive found for them late game is to run them into your enemies base and take out all plantations/mills.
Doesnt work v. iroquois, however it is the only real cost effective way to use them and thats only if his base is lacking in defense.
