I've just starting playing AoE3 and I found the best way to advance with resources is first get the 800 meat then have all the villagers go get wood (I find wood is most abundant in most maps), upgrade all the wood gathering options and then use the market for food and gold, then when trading is bad go get gold or food. Is this a good way to do it or does it pretty much suck? How do you guys do it?
By the way is there a Search function on these forums? If so, where?

I think you mean 500 food, not 800. And 400 wood is the default pick for the colonial age up. Wood may be plentiful, but it's very slow to gather. Go check out the gathering guide in the 'useful links' sticky post in General Discussions for more info.
Oh, and no, there's no built in search, however you CAN use google by searching with the site:aoe3.heavengames.com parameter.

Thanks, that's a nice little guide.. but I'm a little confused about what "herdable" means on that chart?
