Hi there
These days I seem to get pwned by russians or brits one game after another.
Those damn LI they come up with in ridiculous amounts (like 40 longbow @8:00) just pwn me. So I say to myself, why don't you get some good ol' cav to trample them down? I do that.
Let's assume I have a group of 30 Strelets in Front of me and 8 Hussars ready to whoop their behinds. Should be a win for me. So I tell 4 Hussars to attack one Strelet and the other 4 to attack another.
Now the big question
why the hell do those f_cking stupid horses always take teh worst path (like running around in circles 5 times before attacking teh strels) to attack something? They're dead before they can hit anything^_^.
Then again, I see some Lieuts pwning me with cav, so it's obviously me who's the sux0r.
Any idea what i'm doing wrong?
Any feedback appreciated.

Attack move first, then micro the cav that still mess up.

If I understand this correctly, by "attack move" you mean that i have that icon activated, you know, the one with two swords crossing each other. that one next to defensive formation or whatever.
If so, I always have my cav in that mode.

OMFG you're telling me that i can just press "Alt"+"right click" and my units will actually indivdually select single targets?? i did not know that.
nice.
i presume that would be killer in combination with abus guns?
imagine 10 abus vs 20 muskets in attack move? every abus gun aims on one musk, shoots, shoots again, and presto teh musks are dead? OMFG!!!
would this work in practice? geez, gotta get home from work and check this out.

Don't use attack move with ranged units. Enemy units with the same range will be able to hit you and get out of your range before your units in attack move actually understand that they are supposed to attack.

Always attack-move melee, never attack move ranged.
The problem with ranged attack move is that the units in the front of the formation will begin firing the instant they get in range, and the units in back will bump into them milling around helplessly before they too get into range to fire.
You needn't necessarily focus fire ranged units, though you should for smaller engagements, but you should definitely control your ranged units' maneuvers so that when they fire they're all in range.

^^ It's best to attack the pike and kill it instead of attacking xbows and letting the pikes wreck your cav.

no you'll need control groups for that... use attack move for melee only.

let your strelets take care of the HI
only engage counters if you outnumber by a lot or you need to (ex: spanish ff attacking otto jans with 4 hussar age up +minute men+rods)
