Wow, thought we'd have to wait till e3 to see videos. A few things bugged me though:
1. The horses that were carrying the artillery looked funny at times. When it unpacked it seemed like it could've moved a little more fluidly but it wasn't a big deal. But after it destroyed the mill and started packing up it just looked like they hit rewind or something! The horse was just sliding accross the ground and it looked pretty rediculous.
2. It was strange how the windmill reacted when 2 of the "fins" (or whatever you call them) were destroyed. When that happened it kept trying to turn, only it went slower when the two remaining fins reached the top. But shouldn't it have rocked back and forth until it totally lost momentum and the two fins settled at the bottom?
3. The tracer lines comming from the soldier's gunfire were too thick. Looked like they were shooting thick, white laser beams. I think it would look better if they were subtle and barely visible, maybe even take them out completely. It looks even funnier considering they're the same size as the tracers lines from the artillery. While it looked fine for the artillery, it just didn't look right for the guns.
Other than that, it really looks like this game will be nothing short of spectacular. I liked the effects of the water splashing against the rocks and the waves along the coastline. And how the cannonballs were actual objects and didn't just explode and dissappear on contact. They'd break through structures and splash on water or would bounce and roll on land. I liked all the different death animations when the soldiers were killed with gunfire and how the soldiers were tossed around from the artillery fire.
I can already imagine how realistic and amazing these battles are going to be. I just hope that things like horses sliding accross the ground and dozens of thick white laser beams don't ruin these epic battles.
