It's an important thing for me since I am going to buy a new graphic card. Is AOE3 optimized for the current Nvida generation(6xxx) or will it be optimized for the next generation (GeForce 7??)?(since I read a post in the aoe3question forum, which was made by an es employee, that said that developers use the unreleased generation of graphic cards to develop their game.)
Anyone got a clue? Since if the game is made using a GeForce 7 or something, it's pointless to spend money on the GeForce 6800 GT I wanted to buy.
Any thoughts?

Thanks, I'll look into that, but you didn't answer my question, is AOE3 made using a graphic card of nVidia's?

probably, cause they use shader 3.0 stuff and at this time ati doesn't have that on their current cards. It doesn't prove it's 'the way it's meant to be played' but anyway why would it matter?

Actually who cares... The graphics will still be amazing on your old PC, the Pixelshaders or whatever are definitely not worth 200$.

I intended to buy a GeForce 6800GT and I was wondering if it might play the game at highest grapchic options. (I currently also have 1.250GB of RAM, planning to get 2000 and an Intel Pentium 4-2800Ghz) But is it worth getting, since I want it especially for AOE3 and The Sims2...

i dont think 128 is not enough. a x700 with 64 mb can probably handle it at good quality

256 coming standard? Nvidias new SLI cards have 512MB on them how can 256 be standard if they are coming out with 512MB cards that wouldnt be smart.

Compare it to SLI cards and Nvidia owns.

nVIDIA had better make a better card than ATi this time, with better performance. I hate it that nVIDIA always looses the tests to ATi only because they released their specs earlier and ATi improved them. nVIDIA, be PATIENT and WORK BETTER!! Anyway, i understand that the game will work smoother and with more "bells and whistles" on nVIDIA cards, so that's what I'm getting (If they make a decent driver--the latest forceware driver, made my GeForce 440 MX crash when playing Battle for Middle Earth...)

I see your point, but I suppose a PCI-e port is needed for that turbo-cache right? Anyway, my system's memory is more than enough to let the graphic card borrow how much it wants... But I want a high-end card anyway, and am willing to spend more money.
