I recently got my Age3 Collector's Edition - and made an incredible discovery! This is on the last page of Art of Empires, the artwork book that comes with the Collector's Edition.

Obviously this might not be true, but imagine if it is! We can have Battlefield Empires and Age of Starcraft!

Is it just me, or does the character from Age 5 look an awful lot like the chief from Halo?

some guy from ES stated somewhere that they were going to remake aoe1 and 2 and aom2 and i think that would be the last part.

i readed to the end of the 2 page, but IMO ES shouldnt make anymore games.

they should remake !!! imagine aoe2:tc with even better graphxs than aoe3, it would be heaven they could make some tidbits better, but leave the basics...i have always liked the idea, that if the enemy has walls, your LOS ends where the wall begins and only high structures could seeover it,or could be seen over it.of course then you should not be able to shoot thru walls, since thatd be soooo imba :P

aoe 1 and 2 remake id love and aoe 4 and 5 but personally i (and one of my friends) seem to be the only people who thought that aom was rubbish especially the titans expansion?

Age of Empires IV: The Age of Modernity

Starting with Conrad and Kafka at the turn of the century, advance your writing style through the 1930's into ever increasing realms of iconoclastic beauty through the likes of Gertrude Stein, HD, Erza Pound, TS Eliot, ee cummings, James Joyce, Ford Maddox Ford, Ernest Hemingway, John Dos Passos, and more!

In terms of looking to the future, i think a hunnic type of barbarian maybe turkic should sweep over Northern Europe just to create some activity of the region. I mean Sweden has been left out of a good solid fight for way to long as far as im concerned. Maybe a Hunnic Foreign Hoarde similar in practice to the French Foreign Legion. So they can recruit internationally, their base could be Turkmekistan.

Why does everybody think that AoEIV is a WWII game ?
Look at the pic! If That's a pic of how a WWII-soldier would've looked I'm going to slap my historie teacher for giving me 45% when she doesn't know how a WWII-soldier looked like.

I think That's more vietnam style IMO.

PS: also nice to see someone using the search option

ES might have to be careful about stuff like the War on Terror or they'll get their asses sued off. You can sue for anything, 'tis the American Dream. lol j/k

I don't like the look of AoE IV...what does that look like? Age of Information or something? That and fights end up as spamfests with both sides pumping out panzers or whatever they had like mad and insta-killing everything.

Age of Politics / Diplomacy: There are no resources, no troops, no base-building. You just sit in the Head of State's seat and argue with other guys sitting in the Head of State's seat over ESO3, which is now a chat room.
This solves:
- OP units.
- OP strats.
- OP civs.
- OPness in general.
- Any bugs in ESO3, b/c ESO3 now has the same source code as MSN.
- Annoying forums, b/c there is no need for forums with ESO3.
- Fat mothers accusing computer games are counter-educative.

Genius.

French are not OP, only the players with the most skill and endurance use them. Do you know how much endurance it takes to put up with a whole game of Coureurs going "Oui? Oui!"

StarCraft by ES? Sounds better than SC to me. I mean, starcraft isn't perfect

Hey Guys...First time post for me...

Well, I've been reading through all of these posts, and I do think an AoE4/5 would be a great idea. If you look back in the posts, around the fourth page, I think someone with the screenname of 'ToySoldier14' or something along the lines of that gave an opinion about how AoE4 should be. Their post is what I think would be a good idea for the game...maybe change a few things though. Instead of having the common resources (ie Wood, Coin), have more of a mining aspect, for certain metals and such for making buildings and weapons etc. without making the resouces system too complex...
Buildings should be more along the lines of: Bunkers, Trenches, Barracades, Barbed Wire. I also think a neat aspect were if you could go into a city and use explosives to take out certain buildings(to block off paths for the enemy to flank etc) which is what the Germans actually did in various cities during WW2. The game could be more tactic-based too(again with the flanking tactics)
I think it would be cool if they changed the basic population-cap system too. Okay I'll stop now..lol

NO WW2.

UGH.

I absolutely detest that era for an RTS.

Plus, they're really not any empires in that time period.

The problem with ages 4 and 5 is that the empires would already have been made.

Watch the dvd that came with the collector's edition and you know the picture is just art and nothing more then that. ES does not want to make a WWII-RTS or a modern day one. They said that exactly in those words. Watch: the making of AOE3

It shouldn't be hated...It just no one has made a really good RTS for this era. I think if anyone could do it, ES would be it. And I think it would introduce some new aspects into the RTS genre. I don't know about future...I'll have to think about that, since I loved SC so much...

And if there is enough requesting, they might consider something...because they seemed to have obviously sparked up some talk about those eras.

Thats what would make it fun you start with a ton of units and blast each others brains out. It would eliminate that boring part of the game where you have to build everything and just skip to the fun part.

How is there NOT empires in that time? Europe battled for control for Africa, Asia, Middle East. Age 4 Civil War-WW2 would be fantastic

Okay well...I personally thought that AoM was better than AoE3 by a bit. I just enjoy games where you have completly different races...plus I love mythology =) Anyways here the list of things I think AoE4 or whatever the title is should have:
-More trade and sending resources to bases
-More of an air aspect (paratroopers)
-Completly different races as in AoM (American, British, Russian, German, Italian...maybe more)
-Reduce melee game (obviously)
-When building, be able to build it at any angle for a more custom building experience
-Reloading weapons, accuracy system
-A very good editor (Take tips from Blizzard)
-Get rid of the 'Home City'
-Make a science-based system (inventing new weapons for your troops to gain an edge on battle)
-To put money into different aspects of the game (one player might want to put a large % into weapons design, another might want to spend more on training the troops better)
-Units can also gain exp, and carry out into other battles (though still never get as powerful as a real hero)
-Have a system where you can dig up terrain, and make trenchs etc in real-time gameplay
-Make mining metals for making weapons/bullets
-Add more strategy to the game by being able to hold down cities, then explode some buildings to cut off routes, then set down booby traps, barbed wire and barracades to stop the enemy from flanking your city routes
-A new population system (determined by the size of your opposition, how successful you are at that point in the game etc)

Oh sorry, and about the whole 'You can't start with a base' thing...I think at the begining, you should have a huge main city/area...then the expansion part of the game will be getting your civilization to expand...Oh crap, I guess that wouldn't fit in with WW2 =| Thats for the future then =)

Well, those are most of my ideas of how to make a great WW2 RTS -Send Feedback Please-

Yh I saw that on the back of my art book too the WWII one looks good but the future one looks too much like halo. But ES did say on the making of DVD that they didn't want to make a WWII or modern game. They were gonna choose between WWII or Colonial time's and we all know which one they went for :P
